CRACKDOWN ON JUSTICE~~ AN OCCUPATION WITHIN THE OCCUPATION

A DesertPeace Editorial
So much has happened since I last logged into Blogger… it would be impossible to catch up on things that occurred in Palestine….
But, one thing that remains the same is the collaboration between Abbas’ forces and the Israeli government. Just one of the latest examples of this can be seen here…
Palestinian security forces have arrested more than 250 Hamas operatives in the West Bank over the past month, according to a report by the Shin Bet security service. The report suggests a crackdown by Fatah-affiliated security services on the Islamist organization’s infrastructure in Judea and Samaria. Most detainees are from Nablus, where the Palestinian security forces enjoy partial control. Additionally, Hebron – which is considered a Hamas stronghold – has seen increased activity on the part of security forces, according to the report.
The rest of that report can be read HERE.
Never before, in the 60 years of the occupation of Palestine has the Israeli government enjoyed the attempted control on the part of one section of Palestine against another. In their wildest dreams, the zionists never imagined that.
It is almost two years since Hamas was elected to govern the people of Palestine. During that same time period that they were prevented to do so by both the American government and most of the West.
It is six months since Abbas walked out of that sphere and joined forces with every notable enemy of the Palestinian people. Now he is attempting to complete the task of destroying Hamas on his own.
From the same linked report…. Hamas is accusing the Palestinian Authority of political persecution of the organization’s men and institutions. In a statement by Hamas, the organization’s spokesperson described the crackdown as a harsh blow to the efforts of the Arab world to negotiate a power-sharing agreement between Hamas and Fatah. The statement accuses the Palestinian Authority of launching a campaign of political arrests which extends to academics and teachers, in a bid to please U.S. President George W. Bush, who will be arriving in Israel on Wednesday, and is scheduled to visit the Palestinian Authority.
What about them pleasing the people they supposedly represent? What about respecting the wishes of the people that elected Hamas? What we are witnessing is an occupation within the occupation… truly a crackdown on justice.
If we see the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Occupied Territories, as things stand at the moment, there will be no change in the situation. Palestine will still remain under occupation. What the entire world has to realise is that the Palestinian people have spoken freely. They deserve respect and support, not a continuation of what they have at present…

Only then will there be peace, there is no other solution.
