War kills. People die in wars. Soldiers get captured in wars.
All of the above are facts… no one can dispute them. In the last war in Lebanon, Israel came out the loser as far as the government was concerned. Over one thousand Lebanese people lost their lives in that war, a majority of which were innocent civilians. Forty four Israeli civilians were killed. The Olmert administration was scolded for not handling the war properly…. WTH is that supposed to mean? See section 12 of this linked report… in reality, the report is totally unfair towards Israel as it does not mention the role played by the Bush administration. It is they that supplied the ammunition and WMD’s that are still being found in Lebanon today in the form of cluster bombs.
Today, two years later, that prisoner exchange took place. Today, two Israeli soldiers that have been dead for two years were killed again by the zionist machine, again making Israel appear to be the victim. The world joins in the mourning process giving legitimacy to Israel’s ‘pity game’.
The Western press reports on the five Lebanese prisoners that were exchanged for the two dead Israel soldiers.
The Israeli government apparently has no feelings whatsoever for the families of the dead soldiers. I cannot believe that they did not know they were both killed in the first days of the war two years ago. They are more concerned about their image as the eternal victim, again demonstrating the racism integral with zionism that two dead Jews are worth more than five live Arabs.
Israel has a 60 year history of war crimes. It’s time for the world to see this as fact and to stop pitying them. Pity should go to the victims, not the aggressor.

DesertPeace,
I agree. Israel, and/or the Jews, have played the Holocaust for so many years now.
It’s time to hold Isreal, and its jews responsible for the clusterfuck that is happening in Palestine, Lebanon, and the Middle East..

Well, what do you expect? Similarly to the USA, soldiers are expendable—–just cheap gun fodder for their neocon masters.

When the two Israeli soldiers were allegedly ‘kidnapped’ an Israeli General whose name I forget appeared on C-SPAN. I called in and amazingly got through. While waiting to ask the General my question a female voice came on the line and asked “what is it that you want to say to General __________?” I said, “I would like to ask him how two armed soldiers could be kidnapped? Soldiers can be captured, surrender or taken prisoner but in my experience I have never heard of an armed soldier being kidnapped?” The line went dead immediately and my call was terminated.

@Easterling: Your line went dead because people don’t always have the patience to deal with pseudo-informed-but-determined conspiracy theorists like you. It was a kidnapping and no capture because Hezbollah is a shady guerilla group, not a regular army, and it happened on the Israeli side of the border.
As for the gist of the whole blog post above: Just because someone’s much stronger than his opponents doesn’t mean that he should’nt act when the weaker opponent keeps pinching him. Especially when these particular opponents make a special point in having even no regard for the value of their own lives. A kill/death ratio of 1:500 is totally fine by them.
Hezbollah is a cancer that has thrown Lebanon into total chaos and economic misery for ages to come, just for the sole achievement of freeing a hate murderer who battered a 4-year old girl in the head.
The victims are on both sides, but I don’t see how you can lay the whole blame of aggression on Israel.

Wait, so are you seriously suggesting that Israel is racist because they traded 5 live Arabs for the remains of two dead Israelis? You’re so right; they should have offered less! Like maybe if they weren’t so racist, they would have shot two of the five live Arabs and just traded those two bodies for the two Israeli bodies, so you’d have a one-to-one ratio of value? I have to say, I never saw it that way, but I can see that it makes a lot more sense–they totally should have done that instead. Except they wouldn’t, of course, because they’re so racist and zionist and value their own citizens over the citizens of other countries who attack them.

Here’s another senario. A strike on Hezbullah had been planned by the US and Israel for several years. Hezbullah had to be dealt with before Iran and Syria could be attacked. Everything points this way, even the assassination or Hariri, which has all the hallways of a Mossad operation.
The Israeli soldiers were inside Lebanon by design. They were sent there as a provocation. The two so-called kidnapped soldiers had been dead since the first day when they were killed in a firefight. Captured soldiers or “kidnapped” if you want to be that naive are worth far more alive than dead. Hezbullah would have never killed the soldiers after capture. They could have gained the release of hundreds of Palestinians for the release of two live Israeli soldiers.

eco friendly. You miss my point. Normally when you call in to C-SPAN you await your turn to speak. Then you are given an opportunity to ask your question and or make a statement. In this case an unknown person who did no reveal their name or who they represented chose to prevent my asking a simple question. This is not normal C-SPAN policy but appeared to be a special concession granted the General. Only prescreened and preapproved questions could be asked. Is stating that a few thousand Hizbollah fighters kicked Israels ass militarily a conspricy theory? Just wondering? PEACE

I FIRMLY believe that this war started a couple of weeks early with the “trial run” when Gilad Shalit was captured in Gaza and the IOF destroyed the infrastructure of Gaza, all power stations, so that they knew that they could cause enormous suffering and of course the Capture of Shalit was just the excuse. Shalit is a POW as Israel has always stated it is in a state of War.
Then came the capture of the Regev and Goldwasser inside Lebanese territory and it was very clear that the same plan that had been used in Gaza was immediately put into play but on a much larger scale. Because there had been no international outrage on Gaza, Israel expected none on Lebanon.
Olmert and then Defence Chief Perez knew as well as the Cabinet that both Regev and Goldwasser were probably dead as all Arab news services (print & audio) reported that they were both critically wounded and Israeli government is full of Arabic speaking and reading intelligence officers and it would have been no time before they would have known that these men were no longer with us.
As usual the Israeli government has played a horrible and cruel hoax upon these families with no thought for their suffering at all.
As for Ron Arad, they will just put him “back in the box” to be brought out for another time when they need to take the public’s eye off some other scandal going on in government. Ron Arad’s family have been treated with the utmost disrespect and cruelty also by their government since his disappearance but again let us not lose sight of the fact that he was shot down while bombing Beirut, the civilian capital city of Lebanon during the invasion of Lebanon (which was especially brutal by Israel). It still does not excuse the Israeli government’s treatment of the Arad family though.
It would not surprise me at all, though I hope I am wrong, if one day Shalit is returned in a coffin. We will be told then that someone else had written the letters that Shalit’s family had received from him (in his handwriting) giving them the hope that he was alive. (No doubt they will have been written by a Mossad handwriting expert.
One thing I must say is that yesterday’s published pictures of Olmert embracing Karnit Goldwasser as she put her hand on her husband’s coffin with Barak acting the part of the outraged general at his side made me physically sick.
Good luck and all blessings to Karnit Goldwasser, the Goldwasser family, Eldad Regev’s Father, Stepmother and brothers, Ron Arad’s daughter and their family and also to Gilad Shalit’s family.
To Israelis – it is time to stop letting your goverment treat your children as cannon fodder. Next time they want to start a war let them use their own children as bait, or better yet start learning to live in peace on the land you have and let your neighbours also live in peace – that is all that they want.
