No Eye Contact Allowed in Jerusalem
According to sources, a large number of police officers stormed the epic the neighborhood of Bab al-Sahira within the old town’s gates, hitting every one present and spraying them with tear-gas causing injuries and suffocation amongst the present civilians.
The Israeli police arrested five youths aged between (20 – 30 years) who were present at the scene and took them to an unknown destination.
The Israeli police claimed that the civilians made eye contact with them during their roaming in the place so they attacked them, which left the people wondering about the sin that they have committed to deserve such a vicious attack.

This is a very serious topic, yet I had to laugh at the title. “Don’t you look at me” is one of the pet phrases uttered by Frank Booth, psychopath supreme in the brilliant film “Blue Velvet.” Are we comparing the IDF to a ruthless, albeit cinematic, psychopath?
“Don’t you dare look at me!” “Mama, mama” “Mmmmm-mmmm”
If only the horrors of the IDF were fictional….

It seems the Israelis are just as dumb as the British were in Northern Ireland, and that they deliberately (or inadvertently) engage in policing which alienates the population against them. This is why I find the oft-expressed admiration for Israeli ways (security that is) so odd in the US, as though we could use more of that. Yet our police have gone through many reform movements, and learned more intelligent ways of dealing with people in high crime neighborhoods, without bringing about riots as they once did. I for one am not buying it that Israelis are any better at “social controls” than Americans are and have been. But then I am not buying a lot of stuff these days.
