‘I AIN’T GONNA STUDY WAR NO MORE’

David Baldinger

Tomorrow, the 27th of January, there will be a mass demonstration in Washington to end the war in Iraq.
Presented HERE is a video I ‘borrowed’ from the Poetry Man entitled
“What would Martin Luther King say, today?”
It is worth the few minutes it takes to watch it. It will be worth more if you go to Washington tomorrow, if you can, and bring that message to the government in person.
TIME TO BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

Details of the Demo and transportation can be found HERE…

PETER, PAUL AND MARY lyrics – “Down By The Riverside (Study War No More)”

http://www.OldieLyrics.com

(Traditional. Adapted and arranged by Robert DeCormier, Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey and Mary Travers)

I’m gonna lay down my sword and shield,
Down by the riverside
Down by the riverside
Down by the riverside
I’m gonna lay down my sword and shield,
Down by the riverside
Study war no more

I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more

I’m gonna walk with that Prince of Peace,
Down by the riverside
Down by the riverside
Down by the riverside
I’m gonna walk with that Prince of Peace,
Down by the riverside
Study war no more

I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
I ain’t gonna study war no more,
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more

I’m gonna lay down that atom bomb
Down by the riverside
Down by the riverside
Down by the riverside
I’m gonna lay down that atom bomb,
Down by the riverside
Study war no more

I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more

I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
I ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more
Ain’t gonna study war no more

The world is an odd and wonderful chain of coincidence and connectedness, or perhaps connected coincidence. I have been ‘locked away’ in a creativity in problem solving seminar for three days and wasn’t even aware of the march today. But this morning I had some need for inspiration so just before surfing over to your blog I read and listened to MLK Jr’s seminal “I Have a Dream” speech ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEMXaTktUfA )Thanks for posting this other video. Where oh where are today’s MLKs? To all the marchers who read DP and all who are there in spirit of unity – “We shall overcome!”
