HOW LONG ARE THE GERMANS EXPECTED TO CARRY A GUILT FROM THE PAST?

THIS report appeared in HaAretz on Saturday. The report carried the title ‘Holocaust scholar: ‘Jew’ has become a curse word among German youth.’ It was crossposted on What Really Happened with the following remarks added by Michael Rivera, administrator of that marvelous site…

Well, since the students were not even BORN when the Nazis were in power, maybe they are just sick and tired (as I am) of having “The” Holocaust crammed down their throats like it was all their fault.

Maybe they are smart enough (as I am) to realize that all this focus on what happened in Europe in the middle of the last century is just a smokescreen for what is happening in Gaza right now.

Maybe they are tired (as I am) of whiners with their hands out demanding money for something that the students had no control over.

Michael’s remarks got me thinking just how right he is. Just how long is a nation expected to carry a guilt from the past?

German youth are getting sick and tired of being blamed for ‘their’ crimes during the nazi era…. and rightfully so. They are sick  and tired of having the holocaust crammed down their throat as if it was all their fault.

It seems that those horrific events in the middle of the last century are being used as a smokescreen for what is happening in Gaza today. Sixty years ago the holocaust ended in Eastern Europe, sixty years ago the occupation of Palestine began by the zionists. Some venture to say that there is not a coincidence with the timing, I personally prefer not to go there, but it does seem strange.

For sixty years the German people have lived with the guilt of the crimes of that era, for sixty years similar crimes are being committed elsewhere. My question is just how long is a nation expected to carry a guilt from the past?

The nazis were not alone in those days, they had their supporters throughout Eastern Europe and parts of Western Europe. Recent disclosures also prove that quite a number of high ranking American officials profited from the slaughter of millions of people.

The same is true today, the zionists are not alone, they have the financial and moral backing of much of the Western governments. So I ask another question, should the Germans take that blame alone? Should the Jews of today take the blame of the crimes committed today? In both cases the guilt is a collective one. In both cases complicity was/is a crime in itself.

Just as not all Germans were nazis, neither are all Jews zionists. What was done then was not done in their name, what is done today is not being done in my name.

    Excellent post Steve.
The thoughts you written above go along with the line ‘so, you want to see Jews wiped out then?’ when opposition to the ‘Jewish State’ is expressed. Just another way of shaming people into accepting Israel as it is.

Of course, it is up to the Germans to decide whether ‘genuch ist genuch’ for feeling a perpetual guilt about something what happened some sixty years ago and which, incidentally, we are never permited to doubt and much less to investigate. Until now a lot of people have made a very lucrative business peddling that guilt, not only on Germans but to the rest of us, and they stil do. Has any one noticed that when a new Israel’s bestiality against Palestinians, comes to light, we immediatelly have a fresh proliferation of books, movies or “new discoveries” about how the Jews suffered in the Holocaust?
This is how they hope to cover up for Gaza and their nacizm.

Sadly, I can tell you the exact types of responces you should expect from this article:

You anti-semetic nazi bastard. I myself have been labelled as such for similar views. This is the last dying breath of the Zionist (a term I used to hate). They know they are wrong, and they know you are right. So, instead of taking a step back, they immediately hit you with being “Anti-Semetic”.

Nothing of the sort in this article. Now, I do disagree with the stance that, since these German youths were not present during the Third Reich, that they need not learn about it. They MUST be taught this. Are they sick of it yet? If so, good. The key difference for me is, everyone should have this “crammed” down their throats.

“They are sick and tired of having the holocaust crammed down their throat as if it was all their fault. ”

Are they sick and tired of everything else they are being taught? Does it make a difference? These German youths, more than any of us, desperately need to learn from these horrific mistakes. Ignoring history only allows it to repeat. I do not agree with blaming these people for it, but put it into perspective. Little Johann wasn’t alive during the holocaust, but his dad was, his dad was running the gas chambers.

You can’t ignore that this was a mere 50 years ago, no one should be allowed to forget it.

With that said, ‘the holocaust’ should not overshadow the fact that this type of thing has happened many times before, and is happening now. With that I can agree.

    Food for thought:

Anti-semitism refers to racism against the Jews right? Not exactly, that;s the defacto defenition today, but’s it wasn’t always.

What’s a semite? Someone speaking one of the semetic languages (Arabic being one of them).

Therefore, you are not an anti-semite unless you are descriminating against a group of people who speak one of the semetic languages. Guess who that is? 90% of all Jews.

Couple that with the irrational hatred of all arabs, makes the standard jew the anti-semite.

The fact that they will, I swear to you they will, call you an anti-semite for questioning the actions of their government, only goes to highlight this piint even more clearly.

    GReat article !

    GOOSE/GANDER?

THE ZIONISTS WANT EVERYONE WHO DENIES
    A HOLOCAUST PUT IN PRISON?

WELL, HOW MANY HOLOCAUSTS ARE THE
    ZIONISTS DENYING?

I can`t wait for the Jews to claim that Rome owes them Billions for the 70AD Diaspora. Now, that was real destruction. They made Hitler look like a Boy Scout and never apoligized to this day. Let the Pope and the Italian people grovel for a hundred years or so, and by all means , let the Jews tell you what is right and what is wrong. I believe that if they were half as smart as they like to claim, they never would have walked right into the Roman uppercutt. They are as stupid as Jefferson Davis and many times more evil. Tell Benedict to pay up, or he will be labeled and Anti-Semite. OOOH, don`t hurt him…

” What’s a semite? Someone speaking one of the semetic languages …”

    Not exactly.
This seems to be a, knowingly or unknowingly, massaging of the original principle. The original principle is that , the native language is a key instrument in anthropological mapping of people. The key word here is ‘native’ that seems to be missing in the above quote.

The great majority of arabic speakers in north africa and middle east are NOT ethnic arabs. Their original languages, which were lost during arab conquest, were some semitic and some nonsemitic. Those original languages are what counts, not the currently adopted language.

The great majority of citizens in turkey are NOT ethnic turks. They lost their diverse languages during ottoman rule and adopted turkish.

The great majority of english speakers around the world are NOT anglosaxons.

The great majority (%92-%95) of hebrew speakers around the world are NOT semitic. They have adopted hebrew as a religious language and not even a daily communication language. They are ethnically mongoloid turks from north caspian sea (Khazar kingdom) and before then from the corner of mongolia and china. Anthropologically speaking, semitic people come only from middle east.

Therefore, the same way that you cannot be antisaxonite because you criticized americans, you cannot be antisemite because you criticized israelis.

nicely said… I honestly think it’s funny the words we choose. the word “holocaust” loosely translated from hebrew means “divine wind.” so what? the german genocide was the mandated, decreed “wind of god?”
sorry, when 25 MILLION russians die during WWII, the number of jews who died pales in comparison, whether it was six million, ten million or 600,000. why aren’t there any paras troika memorial museums in the US? I mean, our government funded the Soviets right from the beginning, even after claiming they were our enemies.
people in our government, at the same time, funded Hitler AND the exodus of jews to Palestine after WWII, many against their will. slight conflict of interests, maybe?
and to end the debate on who was there (Palestine/Israel) first:
the original Hebrews were kicked out of Egypt and settled in the land of Canaan by mandate of the pharaoh. in order to settle the land of Canaan, the Hebrews had to kill the Canaanites. Who were the Canaanites? they were the ancestors of the same people who are called “Palestinians” today. that land was never officially called Palestine until after WWI when the British partitioned off the middle east and invented a bunch of countries with puppet governments to serve the British Crown.
So who does the land belong to in an ancestral sense? hmmm…

Why do ‘these German youths’ need to learn about this more than any of us? Fascism isn’t a soley German quality, inherent in their genes that they need to be taught about so they recognise it when it rears it’s head and do something about it. Fascism came about all over Europe at the time, Spain, Italy, and to lesser extents elsewhere. It just happens that Germany managed to take it the furthest. It arose from certain events coing together at once, not through genes as seems you seem to suggest.
We all have to learn from it, but to say that little Johann needs to learn about it more than the rest of us just because he is German is…

Anyway, for little Johanns’ father to be working the gas chambers, his father would be about 80. Having a child so late has probably given him a new lease of life.
