    Despite the crimes of the Nazi regime of the 1930’s and forties, i doubt
    even Hitler would have sanctioned the use of depleted uranium on war-heads. That is the level of insanity existing within the U.S. and Israeli
    leadership in these mad times.

    Hello from Spain,

    I’m following the last notice and I hope the conflict finish as soon as possible, but it is a massacre that it hasn’t justification.

    I live in Spain (north of spain – Cantabria), from here, I have the necessity to fell the “freedom” for other countries like Gaza.

    The life hasn’t prize.

Alright – time for a bit of reality here folks: depleted Uranium warheads, used most commonly on the A-10 Warthog for Close Air Support missions (oh, by the way, for those of you unfamiliar with the A-10, that is an AMERICAN fighter, used by the U.S. MARINES – developed in AMERICA – used in IRAQ, DESERT STORM, DESERT SHIELD, and the present campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan).

    Depleted Uranium shells were designed for the purpose of penetration – they cut through armor like a hot knife through butter (DU has a higher kinetic force due to its mass than other substances such as tungsten or iron). Yes, it is radioactive – but not as radioactive as enriched uranium – we are not talking about the use of nuclear munitions (hey – I’m not defending the use of these things – I’d rather they not exist, but don’t go saying that they are worse than anything the Nazis would have used).

    To compare the use of depleted uranium to the atrocities of the Nazis is to compare the medical treatment of today with the manner in which amputations were undertaken in the days of Napoleon’s campaigns: you could get one, but you may not have survived the operation (biting the bullet being the form of anesthesia and antibiotics being a dream).

    Considering the atrocities of Zyklon-B and all of the other “things” that the Nazi war machine accomplished I sincerely doubt that there is ANYTHING that is too gruesome to consider being used by that demented regime in pursuit of their psychotic goals, nor do I imagine for one moment that there was some underlying morality that would have prevented them from “going all the way” if the opportunity arose.

    Do not be fooled – the fascistic path that Israel is on is through the actions being taken against the Palestinians – the people of Israel have the chance – an opportunity – to circumvent this path by electing a government that will take the peace process seriously and enter into discussions with the people of ALL of Israel as though they were equals, not second class people and citizens; dignity for all, citizenship for all, peace for all.

    Ultimately it comes down to a question of will: if the will for change is there, if the people truly desire a change in the direction that will bear the fruit of peace then the only solution is to abandon the failed policies of Olmert, Barak, Livni and their cronies: warmongers each of them, each of them interested in killing their enemies and purifying the “Holy Land”.

    Agree with CrazyC, #1 is either hopelessly naive (and uneducated) or possibly just a flat out troll. Germany under fascist conditioning/propagandising/militarisation did far worse than use depleted uranium shells. Hell, so has pretty much every other major world power in the past (c.f. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfur_mustard — for starters).

    This isn’t, for one moment, to excuse the current actions of the Israeli leadership. The fact that what they are doing now might have been considered almost ‘normal’ 100ish years ago, doesn’t mean it’s acceptable now.
