A Russian Su-24 fighter has been shot down in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said, adding the plane hadn’t violated Turkish airspace and was flying at an altitude of 6,000 meters.

    Pilot said he never knew he had been targeted until his plane got hit. Why don’t Russian warplanes have sensors that notify them that enemy heat sensors have “locked on”?

    Because infrared sensors are PASSIVE sensors, Tedxx. There’s nothing coming out of them you could detect, but only the infrared signature of your hot jet engine’s exhaust gases going into it…
