Word ‘woman’ erased from HMO sign

After targeting women’s pictures, radical haredi groups in Beit Shemesh take on written word as well.

The city of Beit Shemesh is experiencing further religious radicalization: Visitors of the Leumit Health Services’ Woman’s Health Center in the Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet neighborhood were amazed to discover that the word “woman” had been erased from the sign with black paint.

The incident surprised members of the ultra-Orthodox sector as well, who found it difficult to understand the problem with the word “woman.”

“Apparently, they think their women don’t need any health or services,” says local resident Nili Philipp. “It’s no longer of matter of respect or modesty. It’s complete exclusion.”

About a month ago, Judge David Gideoni accepted a claim filed by Philipp and three other women against a modesty sign posted in Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet and ordered Mayor Moshe Abutbul and the Beit Shemesh Municipality to pay each plaintiff NIS 15,000.

Last week, Philipp toured the area with a group of foreign journalists and noticed the HMO sign with the word “woman” painted in black.

“They received live evidence of what we are going through in Beit Shemesh,” Philipp says. “I used to visit the shopping center where the HMO clinic is located because it’s close to home and offers convenient prices and plenty of parking, but after being sworn at several times, I stopped going there.”

The local Leumit Health Services clinic treats women from all sectors. “If a woman gets an appointment, she is sent here even if she is not ultra-Orthodox,” says a city resident. “Some of the men and women who worked there are not haredi either, so they can’t impose their lifestyle on everyone.”

One of the workers says that in recent weeks, the center’s entrance doors have been spray-painted with graffiti calling on women to dress modestly. “The poor cleaning lady had to erase them all the time, but she recently stopped doing that because it took up too much of her time, and the graffiti just stay there,” the worker added.

Visitors of the Woman’s Health Center and the main Leumit clinic located nearby have expressed their anger over the offensive graffiti.

A society which bestows honour on women

A society which bestows honour on women

Today is International Women’s Day . The mainstream media misses thepoint intentionally. They highlight certain women (some who make the lives of women everywhere difficult people like Hilary Clinton, Condoleeza Rice, Angela Markel etc) and they fail to give credit to those who change things or to even explain to us the origin of this day. Having an anual dedicated day for women (action) was proposed by Clara Zetkin of Germany to attendees at the International Conference of Working Women in 1910. Inspired by women socialist movements for fair working conditions in the USA in 1908 and 1909, movements grew of women demanding their rights (until then they did not even have a right to vote).  The first women’s day on 8 March 1911 launched demonstration and marches for women workers’ rights (right to vote, right to fair work condition, right to live free from oppression, right to life, against wars etc).  After a long struggle and many lives lost along the way, the UN finally recognized 8 March as an “International” (I prefer global) women’s day in 1977, 66 years after it was launched by brave socialist women. Thus women’s day is about actions against injustice not about Hilary Clinton!

The First Arab Women’s Congress of Palestine gathered about 200 women and was held on 26 October 1929 in Jerusalem. The demands were rights of women and against the Balfour Declaration, against the racist idea of Zionism,  for self-determination, and for full equality (gender, religion etc). They elected a 14 member Executive Committee headed by Matiel E. T. Mogannam.  Mogannam wrote a book titled “The Arab Women and the Palestinian Problem” published 1937.  Moghannam explained how Palestinian women in the 1920s were innovative in many ways: lobbying the colonial power, writing in newspapers, and holding the first demonstration in human history that used automobiles with 120 cars in 1928 (gathered from all over Palestine to drive in the streets of Jerusalem). See my book on “Popular Resistance in Palestine: A story of hope and empowerment” (http://qumsiyeh.org/popularresistanceinpalestine/)

The struggle of women here continues unabated. Many people like me believe sincerely that had women been in charge here, we would have had a free Palestine by now. My mother who is 82 years old showed us by example what giving and self-sacrifice and love of people and land means. My wife and three sisters are likewise examples of what we all should aspire to do: kind, dedicated, and hard-working human beings. Like millions before them and millions contemporary with them, these women make life livable while many men (and a few women) engage in hurting others and pushing for conflicts and war. Words are too mediocre and inadequate to express our feelings but I simply want to say to all the women working for peace and justice: thank you and to pledge that we will work with you for more progressive change in our societies.

Fear is an emotional state produced in human beings and other animals to watch for real or anticipated dangers.

Veritasphobia (fear of truth)

By Mazin Qumsiyeh, PhD

Fear is an emotional state produced in human beings and other animals to watch for real or anticipated dangers. An animal that reacts to danger or even potential danger and escapes lives and reproduces. Selection favored such mechanisms to be hightened in situations of danger of predation, of starvation of accidental death and so on. But an animal that is exceptionally fearful is also disadvantaged because it can avoid going out to find food or a better shelter or a mate. Fear is a double edged sword; useful in moderation especially when accompanied by logical thinking based on real phenomena and harmful in certain situations. Psychologists call the latter phenomenon of excessive fear as phobia. Phobia can lead to extreme behaviors or to hiding in ourselves and not taking any risks (risk taking is needed for progress). There are actually hundreds of named phobias ranging from Ablutophobia (irrational fear of washing or bathing) to Zoophobia (fear of animals). All humans are afraid of something or another but perhaps a significant proportion of humans are suffering from pathological phobias that impair or result in self damage or damage to others.I wrote in my 2004 book “Sharing the Land of Canaan” about role of fear in political discourse:

Begin quote
Fear is the most powerful tool ever used by governments.  Fear caused good Germans to support the Nazis in 1934 and surrender their liberties for supposed protection from “terrorism” and domination by the communists who some capitalists believed at the time to be dominated by “Jewish elements.”   It causes many good Jews to support Israeli atrocities and it caused good Americans, Canadians and British today to support limiting civil liberties, engaging in profiling and other acts that are of undemocratic nature.  Fear is the most potent political propaganda because it destroys all rational capacity for logical thought.

While invading other countries, the Nazi government always argued they were defending Germany from others and not fighting a war of aggression.  They often claimed that they were “invited” by allies or fighting “defensive” wars.  The Blitzkrieg by Israel on Arab countries in 1967 was also thought of as a “defensive war” and “preemptive” in nature.  Many Americans also were duped to think that the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was not an aggression but rather an action taken in self-defense.  Even though American troops have bombed over 30 countries since 1946 and American troops and “advisers” are now stationed in over 140 countries, many still believe that we are defending “our freedom.” Yet, not one Iraqi, Korean, Nicaraguan, Vietnamese, Dominican, Grenadan, Panamanian, or Lebanese troops has ever set foot on United States soil.  In each case, fear spread by those in power led the population of the aggressor nations to accept the absurd propaganda of their governments and to acquiesce in the victimization of other people.

The esteemed psychologist Dr. William Sargant argued that governments use fear to create temporary impaired judgment and heightened individual and mass suggestibility creating a “herd instinct” most noticeable during times of conflict (William Sargant, Battle of the Mind: a Physiology of Conversion and Brainwashing, Cambridge: Malor Books, 1957, 255 pp.).  A good example of this psychological effect is the public sentiments in the crisis atmosphere following the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.  It is now well documented how the administration in Washington used this atmosphere of fear to promote its own agenda of hegemony and control ranging from the so-called PATRIOT act to the invasion of Iraq.
End quote

But upon further reflections in the past 11 years since I wrote TAT, I now think fear is not only a tool of the politicians but that politicians are the worst victims of a particular kind of phobia. Most of them know the truth but are deathly afraid of it and so choose the path of lies. I believe the main reason is that they worry that acknowledging truth can be a first step to working to correct things and this could jeopardize the status quo which includes their position, their wealth, their popularity or some other thing that they cherish (other than their conscience which is suppressed). Zionist politicians are paranoid when it comes to the truth of Zionist history of racism of ethnic cleansing and of massive violation of Palestinian human rights. They are afraid of the truth that Zionism based on lies is unsustainable and that coexist ace and equality are possible.  Many Palestinian politicians are paranoid when it comes to the truth of their own corruption, nepotism, collusion with Zionism (see Oslo accords) and hidden racist thoughts about the other. Hamas politicians are deathly afraid of Fatah politicians and vice versa.

But this is also true of us common lay people. Phobias suppress our strong desire to shout out the truth, to challenge injustice, to speak our minds fully, to be rebellious, to not worry about being ridiculed. Ironically in our heart of hearts, mind of minds we know that all excellence emerges from defeating this phobia of the truth. The list of >530 phobias compiled and listed at phobialist.com misses that one so shall we call it veritasphobia or VP for short (Veritas is latin for truth)! Acknowledging the truth that it is possible to let go of our egos, try new things, and love others seems a Utopian dream. But those who suffer from VP also ignore history. After all, it was those who conquered their VP who shaped all positive events in human history from ending slavery to women rights, to civil rights, to human rights. History of progressive humanity is a history of conquering VP by few dedicated individuals.

20th century “heroes” like Helen Keller, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Che Guevara, Ho Chi Minh, Nelson Mandela, Ghassan Kanafani, Rosa Parks, and thousands of others others follow those who in earlier centuries were called “prophets”. They are common people who shed their VP and thus achieved remarkable things. I actually think those who do not do that, are also afraid of proving themselves wrong: i.e. that if they shed their VP, they could accomplish more in their lives than they ever dreamed possible.  They are afraid that embarking on a risky road more afraid of potential success than of potential failure! But that is why most people (including most politicians) live mediocre lives risking little and achieving little. [note: I do not consider getting wealth as achieving much unless it is totally dedicated to serving people].

Where are the 21st century heroes and prophets who overcame their Veritasphobia? I did cite some of those from Palestine in my 2012 book “Popular Resistance in Palestine: A history of Hope and Empowerment”. But looking for those is only inspiring and they are a minority and we need more of them. Each of us (our politicians included) can and should look in the mirror and say “what about me?”

First zion helped the US establish ISIS, now they have plans for the monster ….

Spielberg couldn’t have written a funnier script even if he tried.

Islamic State (ISIS) could be planning to use biological warfare against the West, a military expert stated earlier this week – by introducing the Ebola virus into the camps of its enemies.

Could ISIS Target the West with Ebola?

Military expert says infecting carriers with the virus is remarkably easy – and could be easy to weaponize.

Islamic State (ISIS) could be planning to use biological warfare against the West, a military expert stated earlier this week – by introducing the Ebola virus into the camps of its enemies.

While the theory sounds like it was ripped from the script of the 2002 horror classic 28 Days Later, it is feasible, experts say.

According to Captain (ret.) Al Shimkus, a Professor of National Security Affairs at the US Naval War College, spreading the virus would be remarkably simple.

“The individual exposed to the Ebola Virus would be the carrier,” Shimkus told Forbes earlier this week. “In the context of terrorist activity, it doesn’t take much sophistication to go to that next step to use a human being as a carrier.”

Shimkus, who teaches a course in biowarfare, stated that ISIS would simply need to send “a half dozen operatives” into any West African country battling the epidemic to create a carrier – then intentionally infect as many people as possible in a target country.

The fatality rate for Ebola hovers at 50% – making it an effective weapon – but that rate could skyrocket to well over 90% in countries without sufficient medical care, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Shinkus isn’t the only expert to warn about Ebola being weaponized.

Amanda Teckman, author of the paper “The Bioterrorist Threat of Ebola in East Africa and Implications for Global Health and Security” concluded in 2013 that “the threat of an Ebola bioterrorist attack in East Africa is a global health and security concern, and should not be ignored.”

And last month, a Tunisian terrorist for ISIS was found researching biowarfare on his laptop – although the scope of his research focused on the bubonic plague, not Ebola.

Experts say the find proves not that ISIS already has biological weapons, but is at least actively seeking them to expand their jihadist campaign in the Middle East and around the globe – and become an unprecedented threat if they do.

“If they obtain biological or chemical weapons, they will use them,” Princeton University Jurisprudence professor Robert George stated to the Glenn Beck show in September. “There’s no question. There’s nothing that’s stopping them from using those weapons.”

Over 7,200 people have been infected with Ebola, according to latest WHO estimate – including several cases recorded in Spain and in Macedonia.

Israel airport security demands access to tourists’ private email accounts

Several U.S. tourists report being asked by airport security personnel for access to their personal email accounts; Israel’s Shin Bet security service says it acted within the law.

Israel’s Shin Bet security service has been demanding access to personal email accounts of visiting tourists with Arab names, according to the testimony of three U.S. citizens who were interrogated at Ben Gurion Airport and subsequently refused entry into Israel in May.

Najwa Doughman, a 25-year-old architect from New York, landed in Israel on May 26. Doughman, who had already visited Israel three times in the past, planned to tour the country for ten days with a friend, Sasha Al-Sarabi, 24, who was visiting Israel for the first time. Both women were born to Palestinian families who were expelled from Haifa and Akko in 1948.

Around 5 P.M., approximately an hour after landing, Doughman’s interrogation began. She was questioned by a female security guard who did not divulge her name or position. Another female questioner was also present.

The first part of the interrogation began with questions like: “Do you feel more Arab or more American?” (to which the interrogation supplied her own answer: “Surely you must feel a little more Arab.”), “Will you go to Al-Aqsa?” and “Why are you coming now for the third time? You can go to Venezuela, to Mexico, to Canada. It is much closer to New York, and much less expensive!”

When Doughman responded by asking “Don’t you have other tourists who come here more than once?” her interrogator responded, “I’m asking the questions here.”

Then, according to Doughman, her interrogator said, “Okay, we are going to do something very interesting now!” As Doughman describes it, the harsh stare on the security woman’s face gave way to a slight smirk. She typed www.gmail.com on her computer, turned the keyboard toward Doughman and demanded that she log in to her personal email account.

Doughman said she that, while she was taken aback, it did not occur to her to refuse, despite the fact that this was clearly not a reasonable request.

According to a piece Doughman wrote several days later on the blog Mondoweiss, the security woman read through every email with certain key words (including “Palestine,” “Israel,” “West Bank” and “International Solidarity Movement”), reading some lines out loud as well as some chats between her and her friend regarding their upcoming trip. Then she recorded a number of her contacts’ names, emails and telephone numbers.

After some five hours of questioning, Doughman and her friend were forced to wait another three hours, after which they were told that they would be refused entry into Israel. Accompanied by a heavy cadre of security people, they were led to another part of Ben Gurion Airport, where they were photographed and their bags were searched meticulously down to the smallest objects.

Their computers and iPads were passed, twice, through an explosives-detection machine. Then they were given body searches behind a curtain.

When a metal detector beeped while being passed over a button on Doughman’s jeans, she was asked to take her pants off. She broke down in tears and refused, to which the security team responded by threatening to remove her pants by force. Instead, she was given a pair of shorts from her own suitcase and told to put them on instead of her jeans.

The two spent the night in a detention facility at Ben Gurion Airport and were flown out via France, some 14 hours after landing in Israel.

On May 21, another U.S. citizen, Sandra Tamari, a 42-year-old Quaker from St. Louis, was also asked to give airport security people access to her email before being denied entry into Israel. Her interrogation lasted eight hours. When she refused to open her email account, she was told that she was probably hiding something.

Tamari, also of Palestinian descent, has been active in campaigns for a boycott and sanctions against Israel. Her description of events was also published on Mondoweiss.

A third American citizen, who preferred that her name not be published, was also refused entry in May after refusing to allow airport security personnel to access her personal email account. She was also told that she must have something to hide.

A similar case was reported in October of 2011.

Ronit Eckstein, a spokesperson for the Israel Airports Authority, told Haaretz that the Interior Ministry is responsible for the entry of tourists to Israel, and that the security officials who interrogated the women were not employed by the Airports Authority or by Ben Gurion Airport.

The Interior Ministry said in response that the security checks are the responsibility of the Shin Bet security service.

The Shin Bet confirmed that Doughman and Tamari had been questioned by Shin Bet agents after landing in Israel, adding that the actions taken by the agents during questioning were within the organizations authority according to Israeli law.

Tragedy has once again struck as innocent children were gunned down outside their school in southern France. When ANY innocent person is murdered it is a tragedy, no matter where, no matter when, especially if the victim is a child.
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman leveled harsh criticism Tuesday against EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner Catherine Ashton over her comparison of the terror attack on a Jewish school in Toulouse, France, to the situation in Gaza, calling them “inappropriate.”
Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of Palestinian youths in Brussels on Monday, Ashton said: “When we think about what happened today in Toulouse, we remember what happened in Norway last year, we know what is happening in Syria, and we see what is happening in Gaza and other places.”

Are we to believe from that racist doubletalk that the lives of Jewish or Israeli children are more precious than any others? I beg to differ!*

Are we also to believe that every whim of the Israeli government must be supported by the rest of the world even if it wrong? That’s what is happening today making Israel the number one enemy of the Jewish people throughout the world.

Thanks to Netanyahu’s babble, an attack on Iran will inflame global anti-Semitism

The State of Israel, which was established as a haven for Jews from those who hate it, may instead wind up becoming a threat to Jews.

By Akiva Eldar*

The murderer who shot students in a Jewish school in Toulouse yesterday, like the one who shot black-skinned French paratroopers a few days earlier, required no motive other than hatred of foreigners and those who are different. Chronic sufferers from anti-Semitism and xenophobia need no special pretexts for their racism.

Nevertheless, an Israeli attack on Iran that sent gas prices soaring would be seized by by right-wing extremists like those who support Marine Le Pen. Thanks to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s babble in Washington, even if the United States is the one that ultimately attacks Iran’s nuclear reactors, the bill will (also) be submitted to Jewish communities abroad. The State of Israel, which was established as a haven for Jews from those who hate it, may instead wind up becoming a threat to Jews.

What do you do when the polls show that a solid majority of Israelis refuse to risk being among the 500 casualties of retaliatory Iranian missile strikes on which Defense Minister Ehud Barak is prepared to gamble? The Prime Minister’s Office takes comfort in polls showing increasing American support for military action against Iran. Netanyahu’s spokesmen managed to sell this dramatic headline to several important media outlets as a personal accomplishment by their boss.

Indeed, a Wall Street Journal/CNN poll published the day after Netanyahu’s address to the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC showed that 52 percent of Americans favored a military strike on Iran if the only other option were standing idly by. But when the respondents were presented with a larger range of options, a completely different picture emerged.

Fully 49 percent said the United States should either “take no action unless Iran attacks the U.S. or its allies” or “take stronger diplomatic and economic action to put pressure on Iran but should take no military action.” Only 21 percent supported direct military action to destroy Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons, while 26 percent responded that America should support an Israeli attack. The Wall Street Journal chose to headline the report on the poll with the unequivocal statement, “Americans Prefer Diplomacy Over Military Action To Prevent Iran From Acquiring Nukes.”

American Jewish peace activists say the poll also reflects the prevailing mood in the Jewish community. They advise us not to be led astray by AIPAC’s enthusiastic response to Netanyahu’s calls for war, and propose that we instead heed the voices emerging from the J Street Conference that will take place this week in Washington.

This young pro-peace organization is warning about the effect of efforts by Netanyahu and his conservative friends in the Jewish community to drag President Barack Obama into a new war in the Middle East. J Street leaders support Obama’s policy of sanctions and diplomacy. But the American president – like the Israeli president, not to mention the Israeli prime minister, all of whom lined up to speak at the AIPAC conference – is shunning the conference of an organization that seeks to promote negotiations on a two-state solution and even protested the Palestinians’ application for UN recognition as a state. If they had just one billionaire like Sheldon Adelson on their list of donors, everything might look different.

Stop sowing panic

For over four years, an eye-opening position paper on the Iranian nuclear threat has been on the desk of senior defense officials and politicians. The paper was written by Maj. Gen. (ret. ) Herzl Shafir, a former head of the Israel Defense Forces’ headquarters, GOC Southern Command and police commissioner. In recent years, Shafir has served as a consultant to the defense establishment on home front issues.

Following Netanyahu’s aggressive speech in the Knesset last week, in which he recalled times when Israeli leaders defied American positions, Shafir updated the document and decided to increase its circulation. Here are the document’s main points:

* Declarations that Israel is weighing a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities help the government in Tehran convince its citizens that nuclear development should continue despite the sanctions and threats, in order to deter the Israeli and American aggressors. Israel must therefore stop threatening. Instead, it should make it clear to Iran’s citizens that it is not an enemy, remind them of the good old days when it helped Iran, and demonstrate a sincere desire to open a different kind of dialogue.

* Even though the Iranian leadership makes no secret of its wish that Israel would disappear from the map, there has never been a direct Iranian threat to use force or nuclear weapons. Iran’s primary reasons for wanting nuclear weapons are to achieve regional military and diplomatic hegemony, to protect the regime against external threats, and to establish a balance of fear with other countries in the region that possess nuclear weapons.

In July 2008, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad responded to the question of whether Iran would destroy Israel by saying, “Iran will not act militarily … The Zionist regime in Israel will bring itself down in the end.” When asked if he would support a two-state solution, he said, “If the Palestinians accept this, legally and of their own free choice, we will respect their decision.”

* A military attack would turn Iran into Israel’s permanent enemy. In the current era of the Arab Spring and regional uncertainty, this might alter the strategic balance in the Middle East to Israel’s detriment.

* Israel has no way to prevent Iran from retaliating in the Gulf region if its nuclear facilities are attacked. Therefore, Israel must act responsibly and refrain from an independent attack. It also shouldn’t contribute to an American attack. Only the United States is capable of paralyzing Iran’s ability to inflict punishment on Israeli civilians in response to an attack on its nuclear facilities.

Our Associate Khalid Amayreh presents a related point of view …*

Netanyahu: Israel’s mouthpiece of lie*

In his reaction to the tragic shooting incident outside a Jewish school in France Monday, Israeli Prime Minister invoked “Palestinian terror.”

“I haven’t heard any condemnation from the UN, but one of its bodies, the human rights council, invited representatives of Hamas who condemned the US for killing Osama bin Laden and kills Jewish men, women and children. This is who UNHRC invites today. I have one thing to say to the UNHRC: What do you have to do with human rights? You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Netanyahu is elaborate about the death of a few Jews in occupied Palestine, for which nefarious Zionism is solely responsible (responsible because Zionism brought these Jews into Palestine from their original homelands in Eastern Europe elsewhere to live on a land that belongs to another people), but quite dismissive or completely silent about the pornographic killings of non-Jews at the hands of the “holy tribe” or “Master race.”

In fact, as the pathological liar was speaking about the regrettable incident in France, his dirty hands were being stained with the innocent blood of Palestinian children.

Netanyahu and other Israeli political and military leaders got accustomed to giving Israeli Jews a “present” on major Jewish holidays in the form of killing Arab civilians, particularly children, in cold blood.

This happened last week in Gaza when Israel’s war machine wreaked havoc on Palestinian homes throughout the coastal enclave, killing farmers, workers, school children and women.

The Palestinians are mostly helpless and defenseless people, and ganging up on them using state-of-the-art of the American technology of death is analogical to the Third Reich embarking on the extermination of Jews during WWII.

It is also an expression of ultimate cowardice to attack people, especially innocent people, who don’t have the means to defend themselves and protect their children.

During its genocidal onslaught against the people of Gaza four years ago, Israel massacred, maimed and incinerated thousands of innocent Palestinians. The mini-holocaust killed hundreds of children and babies and destroyed thousands of homes, mosques, hospitals, and other public buildings. Children and women fleeing the Dresden-like fire storms over their neighborhoods were mercilessly killed by sadistic Israeli soldiers who were told by their rabbis that non-Jews were actually animals and that one didn’t have to harbor a guilty feeling upon killing a “goy”

The United Nations put the number of Palestinian children killed during that genocidal blitz, knowingly and deliberately, at more than 360.

Just imagine 360 Jewish children getting killed in 21 days and how vociferous and hysterical the shipyard dogs of Zionism would be.

Hamas has killed Israelis, including civilians, but it did this in the context of a national liberation struggle against a Nazi-like colonialist occupation that seeks the annihilation of the very existence of the Palestinian people.

Throughout human history People didn’t throw roses and chocolates at invaders and foreign occupiers. They threw hand-grenades and petrol bombs, they fought them with all the means at their disposal. Didn’t the Russians lose 20 million people defending their country against the invading Nazi armies in the course of the Second World War? Didn’t the French do the same to liberate their country? Didn’t Patrick Henry say “give me freedom or give me death?”

Besides, Hamas has not gone to UNHRC in order to wage a crusade against Jews or anyone else. The truth of the matter is that a small Hamas delegation went there in Switzerland in order to brief the world community on the pornographic oppression being meted out by Israel to the Palestinian people, including the open-ended detention of Palestinian citizens for years without charge or trial.

Let me ask Netanyahu the following question: where in the world, especially in a democratic country worthy of the name, a university professor, a medical doctor or an elected lawmaker is napped from his home and family at the middle of the night and dumped in detention camps and dungeons for 10 or 12 years without charge or trial? As far as I know, this happens only in Israel, the nation that calls itself a light upon the nations!!!

Netanyahu calls Palestinians terrorists for resisting their tormentors and children’s killers. But he ignores the fact that the Jewish wehrmacht, the Jewish SS, and the Jewish Gestapo have murdered and maimed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, Lebanese and other Arabs that whatever the Palestinians have done seems absolutely negligible in comparison to the slow-motion holocaust Zionist Jews have been carrying out against the native people of Palestine .

Mr. Netanyahu, you have stolen the Palestinians’ homeland, you have destroyed their homes and towns and villages, you have expelled the bulk of their people to the four winds; and now you have the chutzpah to call them terrorists?

We don’t know the identity of the attackers in Toulouse , but regardless of this, the attack is outrageous and must be condemned in the strongest terms.

But having said that, it should be made clear to all and sundry that Israel ‘s murderous behaviors make such attacks on Jews, probably by some fanatical groups, inevitable.

I say inevitable, not justified.

Just imagine someone whose entire family has been exterminated by Israelis, how he or she would behave when seizing the chance for revenge? Did Jews behave like angels would vis-à-vis the Nazis following the downfall of the Third Reich? Haven’t Jews been scouring the entire world ever since, hunting for Nazi killers?

Whether you like it or not, Israel is the Palestinian people’s Nazi Germany. Yes, Zionists control much of the western media, control the American government and congress, and are quite influential in today’s world order. But this doesn’t mean that they are clean or kosher. In the final analysis, when Jews think, behave and act like Nazi Germany thought, behaved and acted, they become full-fledged Nazis even if they carry Jewish names and don kippas on their heads.

Remember the idiot hall monitor from your high school days? He would see you on your way to the restroom and ask for a hall pass …. or even worse, follow you to make sure you wern’t smoking (or worse) when you are supposedly doing something else.
Truly a pain in the anus they were! Yet, the system used them to find out what was going on with everyone, everywhere. But everyone ‘had their number’ and knew exactly who they were dealing with. In fact, there was a Jewish joke/riddle circulating in my school; Q…’What happens to the forskin after it is cut off?’ A …’It gets planted in the ground and grows into a hall monitor’!
The system still uses these stooges outside of the school system itself. In Israel, the most notorious is a group calling itelf NGO Montitor. NGO Monitor “was founded to promote accountability, and advance a vigorous discussion on the reports and activities of NGOs claiming to promote moral agendas, such as humanitarian aid and human rights.”
In fact, it’s a Jerusalem-based pro-Israeli front group. It disseminates propaganda, other misinformation and hate. It debases legitimate human rights organizations, independent journalism, and other truth, equity and justice advocates.
Instead of roaming the hallways, these gestapo like creatures roam the internet looking for ‘just cause’ to cut out funding to NGO’s they might not agree with (which is just about everyone but themselves). Recently, The Electronic Intifada joins previously targeted organizations including Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, Human Rights Watch, Adalah, Al-Haq, Mada al-Carmel as well as Israeli groups such as B’Tselem, Breaking the Silence, HaMoked and New Israel Fund, among dozens of others…. In fact, it’s a Jerusalem-based pro-Israeli front group. It disseminates propaganda, other misinformation and hate. It debases legitimate human rights organizations, independent journalism, and other truth, equity and justice advocates.

Its founder and president Gerald Steinberg teaches political science at Bar Ilan University. Students in his classes lose out. He also founded Bar Ilan’s Program on Conflict Management and Negotiation. In addition, he participates in Inter-Parliamentary Coalition for Combating Antisemitism (ICCA) workshops, and various other organizations promoting pro-Israeli issues.

On February 19, The Times of Israel published his article titled, “Israel’s vibrant democracy.” He called it “as robust and pluralistic as any in the world.” He claims no protest or advocacy restrictions, “including very fierce and unpopular criticism of the government and military.”

He said “(n)o other democracy can claim to have greater freedom of expression, despite more than six decades of war and terrorism; threats of annihilation; and (various challenges) of developing a cohesive society based on numerous divergent communities” with no democratic traditions.

Fact check

His claims read like bad fiction. Like America, free expression’s dying. Dissent’s an endangered species. War and state terror are official policies. Democracy’s on the chopping block for elimination. Arab citizens have none. Neither do most Jews denied social justice. Israel’s privileged alone have rights, no others, and conditions keep getting worse.

Like America, racing to the bottom forced mass privatizations, welfare and benefit cuts, and massive wealth shifts to corporate favorites and rich elites. Predictable poverty, hunger and homelessness followed. Growing human need’s unmet.

Unaddressed social gaps divide mainly along religious, ethnic and national lines. Inequality’s near the highest among developed countries.

Protests raged last summer against unaffordable housing, high food and energy prices, low wages and eroding social benefits, onerous working household taxes, lost education and adequate healthcare benefits, weak labor rights, misallocated settlement construction, the high cost of raising children, and more.

Netanyahu’s government is Israel’s worst ever. Racist discrimination defines it. Repressive laws deny Arab citizens fundamental rights. Occupied Palestinians are virtual prisoners, especially besieged Gazans. They’re also war zone victims under frequent air, land and sea attacks.

Steinberg admits Israel’s “not perfect – like other nations, we have flaws, and it is our responsibility to correct them. But aggressive campaigns greatly exaggerate these imperfections (to) delegitimize Israel.”

In fact, Israel delegitimizes itself. Its policies reveal its deeply flawed character. Its credentials exclude electoral freedom. Free expression’s gravely threatened. Critical NGOs face extinction. Minority rights never existed and don’t now.

Steinberg says otherwise. His methodology excludes facts too patent to deny. Selective myths support his claims. He calls indisputable crimes of war and against humanity false accusations.

Numerous other civil and human rights abuses are denied. Torture as official Israeli policy’s ignored. Jewish superiority’s supported. Diaspora Palestinians’ right of return’s opposed, and Arabs are called inherently violent.

All Jerusalem should be Judaized, he believes. Palestinians have no right to their capital. Jewish history, traditions, culture, heritage, language and identity must be preserved. Arabs deserve being marginalized, maligned, and denigrated.

Israeli critics employ double standards, he says. Opposition groups are “empowered through secret funding processes, and not subject to any checks and balances….the real threat to Israeli democracy.”

He uses hyperbole to make baseless claims. State policies debase democracy. Weak at best always, it’s headed for elimination entirely.

Recently passed laws show how. They includes:

(1) the Law to Prevent Infiltration permits imprisoning refugees and asylum seekers. It deters entering Israel to keep it ethnically/religiously pure.

(2) the Preventing Harm to the State of Israel by Means of Boycott allows civil suits against anyone advocating boycotts of settlement products. It sanctions participating NGOs. It strips their tax exempt status.

(3) The Entry into Israel Law limits work permits given migrant workers residing in Israel. It binds them to one employer. Calling the practice illegal, Israel’s High Court equated it to modern-day slavery.

(4) The Revoking Citizenship for Persons Convicted of Terrorism and Espionage lets courts strip it for persons convicted without evidence. Denying it eliminates other basic rights.

(5) the Nakba Law lets the Finance Minister reduce or prohibit funding any institution under the following conditions:

refusal to support Israel as a Jewish state;

racist, violent or terrorist incitement;

support for any nation, group or entity Israel calls an enemy or terrorist organization;

mourning Israel’s Independence Day; and/or

committing vandalism or physical desecration dishonoring Israel’s flag or symbols.

In other words, mourning Palestine’s worst ever catastrophe’s illegal.

(6) The Acceptance to Communities Law lets villages and communities deny individuals admittance for “fail(ing) to meet the fundamental views of the community,” its social fabric, and other characteristics. In other words, for not being Jewish.

(7) the Funding from Foreign State Entities law requires foreign state NGO supporters submit quarterly financial reports. At issue is delegitimizing and curtailing legitimate activities, not legislating transparency. Human rights and other civil groups are targeted for supporting rights Israel opposes.

(8) The Extending Arrest of Persons Suspected of Security Offenses permits arresting suspects in security related cases for longer periods without judicial oversight. Extending arrests without their presence is also authorized.

(9) the Pardoning Protesters of Gaza Disengagement distinguishes between political and ideological activists. Instead of general principles, the political agenda of Israel’s elected majority’s promoted.

(10) the Abu Basma Bill on Regional Council Elections lets the Interior Minister postpone democratic regional council elections indefinitely.

In January, Israel’s High Court rejected a challenge to Israel’sIsrael’s Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law.

It denies citizenship rights to Palestinians with Israeli spouses. Enacted in 2003 as temporary legislation, it was extended twice after its initial expiration date.

The law lets the interior minister grant citizenship only if affected Palestinians identify strongly and cooperate with Israel. They must also contribute to national security. As a result, few qualify.

In addition, potential eligibility’s limited to Palestinian husbands 36 or older and Palestinian wives at least 26.

A Qara village attorney called the decision a “declaration of war on Israeli Arabs.” A mixed couple said the decision “will lead to the expulsion of thousands of families from the country.”

Proposed bills include:

prohibiting the word Nazi and Third Reich symbols;

authorizing libel without proof of damages;

restricting support from foreign state entities;

depriving human rights NGOs getting foreign state funding of their tax exempt status and taxes them at a punitively high rate;

permitting libel suits and criminal prosecutions of anyone slandering Israel and/or its official bodies;

extending preferential civil service treatment for persons with military service;

requiring foreigners seeking Israeli citizenship pledge allegiance to the State of Israel as a Jewish, democratic, Zionist state and serve a term of military or national service;

imprisoning persons publishing a call that denies the existence of Israel as a Jewish, democratic state;

establishing a tribunal for non-Jewish foreigners seeking legal status in Israel;

prohibiting organizations deemed harmful to Israel from operating;

requiring anyone receiving an ID card, passport, driver’s license, or other official document declare loyalty to Israel as a Jewish, democratic state;

declaring Israel “the national home of the Jewish people,” no longer permitting Arabic as an official language;

prohibiting entry into Israel of anyone involved in boycotts, suing the government or military, or denying the holocaust; and

requiring civil servants and council members swear loyalty to Israel as a Jewish, democratic state, among other proposed measures.

Other anti-democratic laws also passed. Israel’s a rogue pariah state, not a democratic one. Arabs never had rights, but increasingly Jews are denied social justice and fundamental freedoms in a nation eroding them entirely.

Yesterday, hundreds from New York’s Islamic community joined forces with supporters to protest against racial profiling in their neighbourhoods. The demo was specifically a protest to show outrage at a video recently shown as part of the NYPD’s ‘anti terrorism training programme’. (video can be seen at the end of this post)
Presented here is the call to their action, followed by photos of the paricipants.

The NYPD is Watching Us, But Who is Watching the NYPD?

Join New Yorkers demanding a police department that is accountable

to the public who fund it through our tax dollars.

The Majlis Ash-Shura of Metro NY and DRUM (Desis Rising Up & Moving)

are co-organizing a rally with the support of other Muslim communities,

leaders and activists, and allies, in order to demand the following:

1. The resignation of Commissioner Kelly and NYPD spokesperson Paul Browne
2. Demand for independent community control of the NYPD, and a well-funded oversight mechanism with subpoena

The NYPD has been exposed for participating in the making of, and the showing of the bigoted, Islamophobic film, “The Third Jihad” to 1,500 police officers, and then repeatedly lying about it.  The NYPD has been spying on Muslim communities in mosques, schools, businesses, colleges, and community centers in the five boroughs.

The film depicts the majority of American Muslims as supportive of violent extremism, and specifically names several prominent Muslim organizations ICNA (Islamic Circle of North America), MAS (Muslim American Society), CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), and others as examples of this.  It also accuses the majority of American Muslims of secretly being part of a conspiracy to take over the U.S. government.

Commissioner Ray Kelly willingly participated in the making of the film, and while he has apologized, he has not explained why the NYPD chose to lie, on the record, about his participation for well over a year. In the meantime, Commissioner Kelly has smugly dismissed community concerns by saying he has “excellent relations” with NYC Muslim communities on the basis of only talking and meeting with those hand-picked leaders who continue to support him without regards to the experiences and feelings of people in our communities. We know that the NYPD has operated without transparency or accountability, and often with brute force, with Black, Latino, and other communities of color, and youth for decades.

In preparation for an attack against Iran, the Israeli government is preparing it’s citizens with simulated rocket attacks ….whilst America prepares to send them more dollar$
IDF holds drill simulating rocket attack on central Israel

Sirens sound throughout central Israel for 90 seconds; drill comes amid mounting speculation that Israeli leaders could be preparing attack on Iran.

Sirens sounded throughout central Israel on Thursday as part of a Home Front Command drill simulating a rocket attack on civilian infrastructure. The drill comes against the backdrop of a fiery debate in Israel about a possible attack on Iran.

As part of Thursday’s Israel Defense Forces drill, sirens went off around central Israel at 10:05 A.M for 90 seconds. Moreover, evacuation and absorption centers are due to open in the central Israeli city of Holon and temporary centers in Holon and Bat Yam will open in order to hand out gas masks.

The Home Front Command stressed that the drill is part of a yearly exercise which has been long-planned.

On Wednesday, the IDF test-fired a ballistic missile at the Palmahim base in central Israel. The test was part of an examination of a new missile currently being developed by the defense establishment.

A Defense Ministry official declined to comment on the type of rocket tested, but it is known it was capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

The launch coincided with mounting speculation in Israel that its leaders could be preparing a military attack on Iran to curb a nuclear program they say is aimed at producing atomic weapons. Iran says its nuclear activities are peaceful.

Moreover, Haaretz reported on Wednesday that the Israel Air Force recently conducted comprehensive drills on long-range attacks at the NATO base in Italy.

The drill included most of the aviation components that are likely to take part in future long-range attacking missions: combat squadrons, aerial refueling and air monitoring stations.

Normally, long-range drills last two weeks, but the IAF left this drill after five days, and by the weekend all the IAF planes had returned to their air bases in Israel.

The IAF’s early departure ignited the spreading of conspiracy theories which suggested Israel was heading into a possible mission, but according to a senior IAF official, the departure was not sudden and spontaneous, rather a short visit planned from the start, due to time constraints of the Italian and Israeli air forces.

Israeli racism turns its ugly head in south Tel Aviv

Posted by Joseph Dana

Racism in Israel is nothing new. There is racism against Palestinians, against Arabs, against non-Jews. There is racism between Jews from Europe and Jews from Arab countries. In our racism, we are no different from many other Western countries. However, the past year in Israel has seen an a significant increase in the number of racially motivated attacks on foreign workers and Palestinians by gangs of Jewish nationalists who seek to ‘cleanse Israel of non Jewish and dangerous elements.’ The problem is reaching endemic proportions as lawmakers have largely remained silent and the crimes continue unabated.

David Sheen, an Israeli journalist with Haaretz, has been quietly documenting the rise of racism in Tel Aviv. His latest video (below) is a look into the ugly work of nationalism which is the foundation of the current spike in racist attacks. In the video, Sheen attends a rally of Jewish nationalists who seek to expel foreign infiltrators ‘that are taking over the southern part of Tel Aviv.’ The interviews that he conducts on the street show a disturbed society in crisis.

A new twist from the masters of madness…. a new diversion from the hatreds of today, ‘let’s create a new phobia and a new enemy’….

One can expect such nonsense from the Judeo-fascists of the day as they document their hatred on S H I T Lists, but to see such dribble in the pages of a semi respectable newspaper is quite another thing. If these people are so concerned about salvaging the image of Israel, moves should be made to cleanse zionism of its evils, rather than condemn those that bring attention to those evils.

The extreme damage to Israel’s reputation inflicted by these and other Jewish intellectuals has been greatly underestimated. Indeed, with their words and actions they are boosting pernicious Judeophobic propaganda.

The anti-Israel Jews

Jews at forefront of anti-Israel campaign do much to tarnish Jewish state’s reputation

Every day, more celebrated Jewish personalities – writers, artists, academics – are depicting Israel as a racist, vicious and inhumane “entity” that has to be dismantled. Many of them have assumed pivotal roles in the global campaign to delegitimize the Jewish State. Their relentless attacks could well play out in ways that indeed puts an end to Israeli sovereignty.

The severest blow to Israel’s reputation in a decade was delivered by a Jewish judge, Richard Goldstone. Meanwhile, there is uproar in Herzliya over renaming part of a city street after Yeshayahu Leibowitz, Israel’s most influential philosopher, who coined the “Judeo-Nazis” expression for the Israeli army.

George Steiner, who has been proclaimed the most important literary critic in the world, questioned whether Israel should have come into being at all. Elsewhere, Eric Hobsbawm, one of the greatest living historians, supported the Second Intifada, endorsing the “the cause of liberation.”

Marek Edelman, one of the leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, wrote letters to “Palestinian partisans.” The late historian Tony Judt has been outspoken in his rejection of Israel’s right to exist and offered Israelis the fate of other religious minorities in the Middle East.

United Nations envoy Richard Falk is one of the most radical demonizers of the Jewish State. Historian Norman Finkelstein is one of the staunchest Western supporters of Hezbollah. Nobel laureate Harold Pinter, film directors Ken Loach and Mike Leigh and historian Ilan Pappe have been the most famous anti-Israeli figures in the UK.

Damage underestimated

The initiative for an anti-Israel boycott in London was taken by Stephen and Hilary Rose, two renowned Jewish academics. The linguist Noam Chomsky, considered “the intellectual godfather” of the anti-Israel campaign, seeks the abolition of the Jewish State. Jewish philosopher Judith Butler is leading the divestment from Israel.

Michael Lerner’s magazine, Tikkun, is probably the most virulently anti-Israel screed ever published under Jewish auspices. There are the Israeli “neo- Canaanites”, Haim Hanegbi and Meron Benvenisti, who have come to the conclusion that “Israel as a Jewish state can no longer exist.” In Paris, bestselling author Stephane Hessel, himself of Jewish origin, is also inciting against Israel.

There are dozens of Jews leading the NGOs promoting campaigns for boycotts and sanctions against Israel. Now, a new book by the historian Deborah Lipstadt, titled The Eichmann trial, sheds light on another Jewish philosopher who demonized Israel, Hannah Arendt, who followed the Eichmann trial as correspondent of the New Yorker magazine. Arendt accused David Ben Gurion of speaking “the same language of Eichmann” and discussed “the bankruptcy of Zionism.”

For well over a century, Jewish intellectuals (and especially German-Jewish academics) rejected the legitimacy and desirability of harnessing the interests of the Jewish people into a political state. Only the Shoah, the most extreme demonstration imaginable of evil versus Jewish powerlessness, succeeded in turning the objections of these intellectuals to Israel into an embarrassment.

The extreme damage to Israel’s reputation inflicted by these and other Jewish intellectuals has been greatly underestimated. Indeed, with their words and actions they are boosting pernicious Judeophobic propaganda. Now, we are again in an era where the Jews are once more sentenced to solitary confinement on the moral high ground, with no other nation except Israel expected to disappear from this world.

5 Ridiculous Things You Probably Believe About Islam

By Jacopo della Quercia

A conservative commentator recently made headlines by claiming 10 percent of all of the world’s Muslims are terrorists. An amazing claim, considering that equals 150 million terrorists and if each were to pull off an attack killing just 40 people, they could exterminate all non-Muslim life on earth.

Either they’re not all that dedicated to terrorism, or the claim is utter insanity.

Well, if there’s one thing everyone thinks of when they hear “Cracked.com” it’s “friend of Islam.” Which is why we feel compelled to clarify a few misconceptions for our readers. Also, there is no way this article will ever come back to haunt us in any way.

If You’re a Muslim Woman, You Have to Wear the Veil

For millions of people in the West, when you say “Islam,” the first mental image that pops into mind is this:

A two-person Scotch-garded version would sell like hotcakes.

A woman covered head to toe in a burqa. The truth is, if you could suddenly gather all of the Muslim women on the planet into one giant room and had to throw a football to someone wearing a burqa, it’d be next to impossible to complete that pass.

But the whole hide-them-under-a-veil thing must be pretty big among Muslim communities, otherwise Europe wouldn’t be all in in a dither over the things, pushing for bans and whatnot. Right?

Look at them there, plotting new ways to drive super-slow in the HOV lane.

After all, we all know that Islam hates women — the fact that Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that actually prohibits women from driving, or that only predominantly Muslim countries still use death by stoning as a punishment for adultery, proves it, right?

But Actually…

Thinking that all Muslim women have to dress like this…

…is like thinking that all Christian women have to dress like this:

That photo is from one of several small Christian sects that require women to dress like it’s Little House on the Prairie.

So for instance, in France they have about 3 million Muslim women. French police decided to figure out how many of them wore burqas and/or niqabs and found the number to be … 367.

Then again, these were French police.

Not 367,000, but 367, a number so small that from a statistical point of view, it’s barely enough to register as a margin of error. As for the rest of Europe, the numbers are even more disastrous for the burqa business (for instance, Belgium has 500,000 Muslims, a couple dozen wear the burqa).

Yes, there are Middle Eastern countries where the veils are required by law (namely Iran and Saudi Arabia) and combined those countries have less than 5 percent of the world’s Muslims. There are actually more Muslim countries that outright ban the wearing of the veils than there are that require them. They can do that because wearing a veil is not required in Islam but is more of a custom, depending on where you live and who’s in charge.

Much like hot pants.

Hey, speaking of which, try this number on for size: Of the five most populous Muslim-majority nations, four of them have elected female heads of state.

So there’s a fantastic chance that in 2012, Sarah Palin will be campaigning for an achievement that Muslim ladies have already accomplished.

We bet Megawati Sukarnoputri knows the United States doesn’t have a
Department of Law.

Our Founding Fathers Would Never Have Tolerated This Muslim Nonsense!

It’s easy to stand on a soapbox and publicly bluster about what you think the Founding Fathers would think about the godless, multicultural United States today. After all, these were Christian, God-fearing men, damn it. They certainly wouldn’t put up with all this tolerance for these terrorist religions.

Thomas Jefferson, moments before leaping into the air on a giant eagle and drop-kicking Saladin.

It’s a good thing some Americans are standing up for good old-fashioned American values and passing laws to prohibit Islamic law from taking over the U.S., because that’s totally around the corner! Somewhere, Thomas Jefferson is smiling in his grave!

But actually…

Even if they were staunch Christians (or deists, whatever), plenty of the Founding Fathers had a healthy admiration for the Muslim faith. Thomas Jefferson, for example, taught himself Arabic using his own copy of the Quran and hosted the first White House Iftar during Ramadan.

Jefferson believed in celebrating the deliciousness of all world religions.

John Adams hailed the Islamic prophet Muhammad as one of the great “inquirers after truth.” Benjamin Rush, who was so Christian he wanted a Bible in every school, also said he would rather see the opinions of Confucius or Mohammad “inculcated upon our youth” than see them grow deprived “of a system of religious principles.” Benjamin Franklin once declared: “Even if the Mufti of Constantinople were to send a missionary to preach Mohammedanism to us, he would find a pulpit at his service.” Even George fucking Washington personally welcomed Muslims to come work for him at Mount Vernon.

So, why all this Founding Father/Muslim love? Probably because Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah of Morocco was the first world figure to recognize the independence of the United States of America from Great Britain in 1777. Another reason was that the Founding Fathers were smart enough to distinguish between terrorists and everybody else on the whole damn planet, as demonstrated in the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797. It was in this agreement that the U.S. declared: “The government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Mussulmen [Moslems].

Another possible translation.

“Muslim” Equals “Arab”

Remember that crazy lady with the Einstein hair who asked John McCain if Barack Obama was an Arab? No? Well, let us refresh your memory:

The instant John McCain realized that he would never, ever be president.

We’re willing to bet there’s more than a 20 percent chance this woman meant to say “Muslim” but accidentally said “Arab” because same thing, right? And even if you’re not in the tea party camp, where you’re convinced “Arab” and “Muslim” are interchangeable, you’ve probably operated under a similar assumption: that non-Jewish Middle Eastern people are Muslim and that most Muslims live in the Middle East.

But actually…

Only about 20 percent of the entire world’s Muslim population is Arab or North African. For comparison, about 22 percent of the global Christian population is African, yet when somebody says “Christian,” you don’t immediately picture a dude from Africa. Equating “Muslim” with “Arab” makes just as much sense.

That’d be like associating “Kansas” with “hate-filled douchebags”.

While we in the West have been conditioned to associate Islam with the Middle East, a whopping 61.9 percent of all Muslims — aka a supermajority — don’t live in the Middle East at all; most Muslims live in the Asia-Pacific region. Indonesia alone is home to more than 200 million Muslims, and the Indian subcontinent has roughly a half-billion Muslims.

It works the other way, too. For example, if you think being Arab guarantees you being Muslim these days, well, we are sorry to disappoint. As much as 10 percent of the world’s Arab population is Christian (that’s more than 14 million people). That means there are 1 million more Arab Christians than, oh, we don’t know … the world’s entire Jewish population..

Western Cultures Are Far More Humane Than the Bloodthirsty Muslims

Even before the whole terrorism thing, Islam had a reputation in the West for violence. Part of it has to do with how abruptly Islam was all up in everyone’s face. For instance, while Hinduism took about 1,000 years to spread through India, and Christianity took about 400 years to go from persecuted cult to the state religion of the Roman Empire, Islam went from one guy’s epiphany to the dominant political and religious force in the Middle East and North Africa in about 100 years.

So a lot of people have reached the conclusion that the religion spread like holy wildfire for one reason: the sword. The next logical leap from this viewpoint is that as a people, Muslims must be violent and barbaric conquerors. Even before 9/11, you saw this portrayal in popular culture all the time:

But actually…

Muhammad laid out some pretty progressive rules of warfare, and medieval Muslims out-niced the Christians in battle by a landslide. Especially since Muhammad personally issued “a distinct code of conduct among Islamic warriors” that included:

  • No killing of women, children or innocents — these might include hermits, monks or other religious leaders who were deemed noncombatants;

  • No wanton killing of livestock or other animals;

  • No burning or destruction of trees and orchards; and

  • No destruction of wells.

And no kicking with cleats on, Jeremy.

In short, Muhammad wanted his armies to fight like freaking hippies. During the fucking Dark Ages. And they did.

But the biggest territorial gains were made after Muhammad’s death, right? Maybe that was when Islam earned its bloodthirsty reputation? Not exactly. His successor codified the existing rules and made them the standard for his army. Which probably explains why the Muslim army conquering Europe “exhibited a degree of toleration which puts many Christian nations to shame,” in the words of one expert.

Plus, they built all sorts of nifty buildings.

So while Christian crusaders were beheading enemies and tossing their heads like oversized hacky sacks, their Muslim counterparts had a whole honor code that led them to feed the armies of their defeated enemies.

Islam Is Stuck in the Dark Ages

There are really three big negative stereotypes about Islam — that it hates women, that it’s violent and that it hates any kind of scientific progress. We’ve covered the first two already, but how can you argue against the third? Their governments are based on ancient religious texts! And what diseases has Iran cured?

You guys could at least take out herpes or something.

But actually…

In the same way that not all Christians are Young Earth Creationists, plenty of modern Muslims see room for interpretation in the Quran. In fact, 45 percent of American Muslims in one poll said they see evolution as “the best explanation for the origin of human life on Earth,” which isn’t so shabby, considering only 24 percent of evangelical Christians believed the same. The percentage of Muslims embracing the scientific explanation for the origin of life was about the same as Americans as a whole (48 percent).

If they only knew how to communicate their views like we do …

And historically, they have a hell of a track record. Science and math as we know it wouldn’t even exist without Islam. The Islamic Golden Age caused a revolution in virtually every field of human thought, during which they fucking invented algebra — and advanced everything from geography and exploration to the arts, architecture, philosophy, urban development, medicine and health.

The Muslims actually came pretty damn close to sharing all this brilliance with the truly ass-backward kingdoms of Christian Europe, since the Islamic caliphates blanketed every country they conquered with schools, libraries, public works and the most comprehensive system of social welfare on the planet. In fact, the case has been made that if the caliphates succeeded in conquering all of Europe an Italian Renaissance would have been unnecessary.

It would have saved us all a lot of dong-staring, too.

50 rabbis signed a religious ‘ruling’ forbidding sales or rental of apartments to Arabs…. 2 have withdrawn their signatures.

Amid uproar, two rabbis pull their names from letter forbidding rental of homes to Arabs

Rabbis remove their signatures after ultra-Orthodox leader denounces the religious ruling.

Two municipal chief rabbis decided on Thursday to remove their signatures from a religious ruling forbidding Israeli Jews from renting homes to gentiles.

Dozens of Israel’s municipal chief rabbis had signed on to the letter, which came just months after the chief rabbi of Safed initiated a call urging Jews to refrain from renting or selling apartments to non-Jews.

Rabbi Simcha HaCohen Kook and Rabbi Yaakov Edelstein said they decided to remove their names from the letter because they did not agree with its content.

However, their decision is probably related to a statement made by leading rabbi of Israel’s non-Hasidic Orthodox sector, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, who denounced earlier on Thursday the religious ruling.

“I’ve said for some time that there are rabbis who must have their pens taken away from them,” Elyashiv remarked.

“It’s interesting that these same Zionist rabbis support symbolically selling their land to gentiles during the shmita year,” he added referring to the seven-year cycle when agricultural fields in Israel must lie fallow.

The attorney general’s office stated on Thursday that it would look into possible criminal aspects of a religious ruling to forbid renting homes to gentiles signed by a number of leading rabbis.

In an official response to a petition submitted by Meretz MK Ilan Ghilon against the signatories of the rabbis’ letter, an assistant of attorney general Yehuda Weinstein said that Weinstein would order the examination of possible criminal and disciplinary aspects of the rabbis’ letter.

“The attorney general thinks that it appears that the statements attributed to the rabbis are problematic in several aspects… and are inappropriate for public officials,” the statement said.

The attorney general office’s statement was the first official response by Israel’s legal establishment to petitions calling for legal action against the signatories of the rabbis’ letter.

Earlier on Thursday, the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial decried the rabbis’ letter, deeming it a “severe blow to the values of our lives as Jews and human beings in a democratic state.”

“Past experiments have taught us just how important, and at the same time how fragile, these basic values are to coexistence and honoring the other,” the memorial said in response to the ruling.

“We know that the Jewish people, that knew suffering and persecution and experience ostracism and the revocation of basic rights, has expressed its stance on matters such as these with voices different than those we have heard today with this [ruling]”.

The loss of a radical left in American politics has been catastrophic. The left once harbored militant anarchist and communist labor unions, an independent, alternative press, social movements and politicians not tethered to corporate benefactors. But its disappearance, the result of long witch hunts for communists, post-industrialization and the silencing of those who did not sign on for the utopian vision of globalization, means that there is no counterforce to halt our slide into corporate neofeudalism. This harsh reality, however, is not palatable. So the corporations that control mass communications conjure up the phantom of a left. They blame the phantom for our debacle. And they get us to speak in absurdities.

The Phantom Left

The American left is a phantom. It is conjured up by the right wing to tag Barack Obama as a socialist and used by the liberal class to justify its complacency and lethargy. It diverts attention from corporate power. It perpetuates the myth of a democratic system that is influenced by the votes of citizens, political platforms and the work of legislators. It keeps the world neatly divided into a left and a right. The phantom left functions as a convenient scapegoat. The right wing blames it for moral degeneration and fiscal chaos. The liberal class uses it to call for “moderation.” And while we waste our time talking nonsense, the engines of corporate power–masked, ruthless and unexamined–happily devour the state.

The phantom left took a central role on the mall this weekend in Washington. It had performed admirably for Glenn Beck, who used it in his own rally as a lightning rod to instill anger and fear. And the phantom left proved equally useful for the comics Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, who spoke to the crowd wearing red-white-and-blue costumes. The two comics evoked the phantom left, as the liberal class always does, in defense of moderation, which might better be described as apathy. If the right wing is crazy and if the left wing is crazy, the argument goes, then we moderates will be reasonable. We will be nice. Exxon and Goldman Sachs, along with predatory banks and the arms industry, may be ripping the guts out of the country, our rights–including habeas corpus–may have been revoked, but don’t get mad. Don’t be shrill. Don’t be like the crazies on the left.

“Why would you work with Marxists actively subverting our Constitution or racists and homophobes who see no one’s humanity but their own?” Stewart asked. “We hear every damn day about how fragile our country is–on the brink of catastrophe–torn by polarizing hate, and how it’s a shame that we can’t work together to get things done. But the truth is we do. We work together to get things done every damn day. The only place we don’t is here [in Washington] or on cable TV.”

The rally delivered a political message devoid of reality or content. The corruption of electoral politics by corporate funds and lobbyists, the naive belief that we can somehow vote ourselves back to democracy, was ignored for emotional catharsis. The right hates. The liberals laugh. And the country is taken hostage.

The Rally to Restore Sanity, held in Washington’s National Mall, was yet another sad footnote to the death of the liberal class. It was as innocuous as a Boy Scout jamboree. It ridiculed followers of the tea party without acknowledging that the pain and suffering expressed by many who support the movement are not only real but legitimate. It made fun of the buffoons who are rising up out of moral swamps to take over the Republican Party without accepting that their supporters were sold out by a liberal class, and especially a Democratic Party, which turned its back on the working class for corporate money.

Fox News’ Beck and his allies on the far right can use hatred as a mobilizing force because there are tens of millions of Americans who have very good reason to hate. They have been betrayed by the elite who run the corporate state, by the two main political parties and by the liberal apologists, including those given public platforms on television, who keep counseling moderation as jobs disappear, wages drop and unemployment insurance runs out. As long as the liberal class speaks in the dead voice of moderation it will continue to fuel the right-wing backlash. Only when it appropriates this rage as its own, only when it stands up to established systems of power, including the Democratic Party, will we have any hope of holding off the lunatic fringe of the Republican Party.

Wall Street’s looting of the Treasury, the curtailing of our civil liberties, the millions of fraudulent foreclosures, the long-term unemployment, the bankruptcies from medical bills, the endless wars in the Middle East and the amassing of trillions in debt that can never be repaid are pushing us toward a Hobbesian world of internal collapse. Being nice and moderate will not help. These are corporate forces that are intent on reconfiguring the United States into a system of neofeudalism. These corporate forces will not be halted by funny signs, comics dressed up like Captain America or nice words.

The liberal class wants to inhabit a political center to remain morally and politically disengaged. As long as there is a phantom left, one that is as ridiculous and stunted as the right wing, the liberal class can remain uncommitted. If the liberal class concedes that power has been wrested from us it will be forced, if it wants to act, to build movements outside the political system. This would require the liberal class to demand acts of resistance, including civil disobedience, to attempt to salvage what is left of our anemic democratic state. But this type of political activity, as costly as it is difficult, is too unpalatable to a bankrupt liberal establishment that has sold its soul to corporate interests. And so the phantom left will be with us for a long time.

Politics in America has become spectacle. It is another form of show business. The crowd in Washington, well trained by television, was conditioned to play its role before the cameras. The signs –“The Rant is Too Damn High,” “Real Patriots Can Handle a Difference of Opinion” or “I Masturbate and I Vote”–reflected the hollowness of current political discourse and television’s perverse epistemology. The rally spoke exclusively in the impoverished iconography and language of television. It was filled with meaningless political pieties, music and jokes. It was like any television variety program. Personalities were being sold, not political platforms. And this is what the society of spectacle is about.

The modern spectacle, as the theorist Guy Debord pointed out, is a potent tool for pacification and depoliticization. It is a “permanent opium war” which stupefies its viewers and disconnects them from the forces that control their lives. The spectacle diverts anger toward phantoms and away from the perpetrators of exploitation and injustice. It manufactures feelings of euphoria. It allows participants to confuse the spectacle itself with political action.

The celebrities from Comedy Central and the trash talk show hosts on Fox are in the same business. They are entertainers. They provide the empty, emotionally laden material that propels endless chatter back and forth on supposed left- and right-wing television programs. It is a national Punch and Judy show. But don’t be fooled. It is not politics. It is entertainment. It is spectacle. All national debate on the airwaves is driven by the same empty gossip, the same absurd trivia, the same celebrity meltdowns and the same ridiculous posturing. It is presented with a different spin. But none of it is about ideas or truth. None of it is about being informed. It caters to emotions. It makes us confuse how we are made to feel with knowledge. And in the end, for those who serve up this drivel, the game is about money in the form of ratings and advertising. Beck, Colbert and Stewart all serve the same masters. And it is not us.

Mom, Apple Pie and Islamophobia

By Arun Gupta *

The current nativist impulse is not new. The right’s anti-Muslim campaign is eerily similar to 19th-century anti- Catholic bigotry in America. Catholics here were subject to discrimination and violence because many didn’t speak English; religious practices such as confession, veneration of saints and transubstantiation seemed alien; many of their women (nuns) donned strange garb; and they were characterized as a fifth column loyal to a sinister foreign power, the Pope.

Likewise, Islamophobia goes back two centuries to Orientalism, which portrayed much of the world, particularly Arab and Islam, as barbaric and irrational in contrast to an enlightened West. More recently, American popular culture reacted to the Arab oil boycott in 1973 and the Iranian Revolution in 1979 with the image of the despotic sheikh and fanatical mullah who prey upon a West enfeebled by secularism and liberalism. From there followed the “Worse Than Hitler” parade: Grand Ayatollah Khomeini, Yasser Arafat, Muammar Qaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The Islamophobia that sprouted after the Sept. 11 attacks was planted in this noxious soil. Curiously, it has taken nine years for Islamophobia to reach a fever pitch, at least in America (Europe was quicker to the game).

So why now?

One explanation is Bush, who, after 9/11, described Islam as “a faith based upon peace and love and compassion.” Bush had to deny the role of religion in the “war on terror” to ensure broad international support for new wars. Later, however, Bush claimed “Islamofascism” was an “ideology that is real and profound.” So while Bush the Republican was willing to throw red meat to the bigots, Bush the president was compelled to tone down the bigotry in the interest of statecraft.

Now, freed from the burdens of power, the Republicans can reap the benefits of Islamophobia by stoking the base passions of the right, while not having to pay the price for any international repercussion. What makes the bigotry so powerful at this point is Obama.

Going back to the 2008 election, the right has successfully painted Obama as the Other. Since Obama took office, the percentage of Americans who say Obama is Muslim has increased sharply. In August, during the run-up to the anti-Muslim rallies on Sept. 11, one poll found that 31 percent of Republicans thinks Obama is a Muslim, nearly double the percentage who said so in March 2009.

Believing Obama is a Muslim or foreign born or motivated by “Kenyan anticolonial behavior” is indicative of the conspiratorial mindset that the right cultivates. In Mobilizing Resentment, Jean Hardisty writes that the “right uses three specific forms of intolerance — stereotyping, scapegoating and demonizing — to mobilize and organize recruits.” These techniques “reinforce an us-them dichotomy” and “help a protest movement fix blame for social ills on easily understood targets.” Hardisty explains that demonizing the hated group “draws anger away from real sources of social ills.” This “allows for greater dominance by elites, while creating the impression of increased empowerment for those expressing their intolerance.”

Stoked to a white-hot fury by the right, many Americans castigate Obama and his policies. But this opposition is both remote and abstract; venting rage on mosques and Muslims offers a concrete outlet.

The hatred (the appropriate term) goes far beyond opposing the Cordoba House in Manhattan. A Gallup poll from 2006 found that 39 percent of Americans think Muslims should carry a special identification. Today, a Time magazine poll found that a majority of Americans have an unfavorable view of Muslims and nearly one-third think Muslims should be barred from running for president or sitting on the Supreme Court.

These sentiments get acted on with public hate-spewing and attacks against mosques, a rise in hate crimes against Muslims over the last decade and a huge surge in employment discrimination.

By targeting the Other, the right also defines “real” Americans. Nearly 50 years ago, historian Richard Hofstadter argued that the “modern right wing … feels dispossessed.” They feel “America has largely been taken away from them and their kind.” Anti-Muslim protests are both an attempt to deny the public display of the other’s symbols and a way to stoke resentment that the government is devaluing the true majority’s values and beliefs.

While the racism is real, it is given coherence by right-wing fanatics like David Horowitz, Frank Gaffney, William Kristol, Michelle Malkin, Gary Bauer, Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin, who support and in some cases organize and fund the anti- Muslim campaign.

Since last year, the right has been hysterically claiming that Sharia, or Islamic law, is being imposed in the United States with the backing of the Obama administration. Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy has been leading the charge, having just published a 177-page report entitled “Sharia: The Threat to America.”

Linking Obama to Islam is a way to turn tactical opposition in the upcoming midterm elections into a holy war in which no compromise is possible. Hofstadter described it as a paranoid mindset that believes “the enemy is totally evil and totally unappeasable [so] he must be totally eliminated.”

In a recent Newsweek poll, a staggering 52 percent of Republicans said they think it is definitely or probably true that Obama “sympathizes with the goals of Islamic fundamentalists who want to impose Islamic law around the world.”

These wild beliefs reveal how much of the population is mentally unhinged. Though if the Obama White House had shown as much concern for the average worker as it did for investment bankers, there would be far less economic and social anxiety for the right wing to exploit. But that’s now history.

“To generalize is to be an idiot.” – William Blake

Xenophobia and Islamophobia in the USA

By Paul J. Balles *

Paul J. Balles considers the mindset – the ignorance, irrationality and faulty reasoning – behind xenophobia and it’s latest manifestation in the United States and other Western countries, Islamophobia.

“To generalize is to be an idiot.” – William Blake

Xenophobia is a fear or contempt of that which is foreign or unknown, especially of strangers or foreign people. It includes hatred of persons belonging to a different race, or different ethnic or national origin.

The fear or hatred that makes up xenophobia involves a great deal of generalizing about “others”.

Unfortunately, if you develop a mindset about large numbers of people based on the actions of a few, you can treat whole populations badly.

British historian Thomas Macaulay said: “In proportion as men know more and think more they look less at individuals and more at classes.”

Generalizations involving xenophobia include thoughts like “immigrants are not as worthy as natives”, and “women are not as capable as men”.

There are those in America who consider Barak Obama unworthy of being its president because of his colour, because his father was not American by birth or because Obama’s middle name is Hussain.

The mental degradation as part of this generalizing applies to any and all who don’t belong to the tribe or group of the xenophobes.

Philosopher and author Eric Hoffer observed that “We are more prone to generalize the bad than the good. We assume that the bad is more potent and contagious.”

Thus, by faulty reasoning, if there is one bad black, all blacks are bad; and if one Muslim has committed a crime, therefore all Muslims must be criminals.

A special name – Islamophobia – applies to xenophobia involving Muslims; and Islamophobia has been growing alarmingly in America recently.

A knife-wielding lunatic attacked a Muslim taxi driver in New York City. Why? The driver admitted to a drunk lunatic that he (the taxi driver) was a Muslim.

The attacker reasoned from the specific (an attack attributed to Muslims on 9/11) to the general (all Muslims were responsible).

A mosque under construction in Tennessee suffered an arson attack. Why? Comments by Islamophobes like Newt Gingrich have incited a general hatred of Muslims.

Newt Gingrich, once the speaker of the US House of Representatives, would naturally have others attaching greater credence to what he says.

How many people has Gingrich fed anti-Muslim thinking with his inflammatory public remarks about Islam? The false generalization: if one Muslim is bad, all Muslims must be bad.

Florida Pastor Terry Jones planned to burn copies of the Quran on the anniversary of 9/11. Why? He generalized from Muslims alleged to have been responsible for 9/11 to all of Islam.

Documentary film-maker Michael Moore pointed out: “Blaming a whole group for the actions of just one of that group is anti-American. Timothy McVeigh was Catholic. Should Oklahoma City prohibit the building of a Catholic Church near the site of the former federal building that McVeigh blew up?”

Protesters have been assailing the building of an Islamic cultural centre – including a mosque – near Ground Zero in New York. The protestors disregard the fact that before Ground Zero became Ground Zero, it had two mosques.

The problem: general and increasing Islamophobia. According to a Washington Post/ABC News poll, 49 per cent of all Americans say they have generally unfavourable opinions of Islam. A larger percentage opposes the cultural centre.

Poet Ezra Pound wrote: “Any general statement is like a cheque drawn on a bank. Its value depends on what is there to meet it.” In other words, if the money isn’t in the bank the cheque is worthless.

Applied to the generalizations about Islam, if they don’t fit Muslims generally, they are worthless expressions of xenophobia and the ignorant fear called Islamophobia.

I have always maintained that a day without hate mail is a day we didn’t do something right. Better yet is when we find a blog posting about us… as I did last night. I noticed quite a few visitors to my Blog via THIS vile site.

It made me feel like the cream cheese on a toasted bagel, being a part of such a vicious smear campaign…

This is taken from the personal attack they wrote about Michael Rivero of What Really Happened So, do us all a favor and stop patronizing sites that don’t tell the whole story.  Stop patronizing sites that mislead, distract, divide, or otherwise try to bullshit our people. HERE is an example of one such site, run by yet another jew, and linked to be kikes like Rivero. Take a look at the article “demonisation of the jews” and the image, “zionsim, judaism…there is a difference”.  There is no difference between any of these rat faced, baby raping, nation wrecking, ritually murdering, genocidal beasts. Here’s a difference for you.  HUMANS who put together sites like this one get a fraction of the traffic these liars get, because I’m trying to steer you directly at the target.  The difference is, I’m not trying to pretend some jews are better than others, or pretend that it’s just “zionists” or any other bullshit group they can push the blame off to.

Rivero’s ‘crime? Accused of being a Jew… and worse yet, ‘Linking to a site ‘run by yet another Jew’

My ‘crime?Being that Jew in question!’

And just who is the ‘man’ behind this hate?

Revolutions aren’t won without a fight. Give no quarter.

Adam Austin (United States of America, South)
In his early years of learning, Adam was quickly recognized as a rebellious student who refused to bow to fictitious “authority”, while gaining knowledge at a rapid pace.  Eventually, it became evident to his teachers who sent him for testing, which landed him in Florida’s gifted student program; where he was able to flourish outside of the normal day to day monotony of repetitiveness, necessary for average students to learn. This would be a precursor for things to come in the future.  Adam’s rebellious nature quickly led him to exposing and lashing out against the corruption, inequality, and absurdity of all the systems that the populous at large considered normal; even at the price of living as an outcast from the mainstream of society.  To this day, Adam embellishes in his outsider status by uncovering and exposing injustice, deceit, and tyranny played out against the masses. A natural rebel, and uncompromising leader, no other role was more fitting. Today Adam creates videos, articles, and other works both through Subverted Nation and video hosting sites like Youtube and Vimeo exposing jewish criminals and their machinations in America and around the globe.

Frightening, eh? Not really…. but what IS disturbing is that this ‘man’ seems to walk free on the streets of America spouting his venom, not to mention the poison spread via the Internet.

Visit his site, read the comments at the end of the post…. he is not alone in his hatred….

Drop him a line and tell him what you think of the hatred represented there… Don’t let this go unanswered.

Also, thank him for directing people to this site as well as to WRH..

I have always maintained that there is a difference between anti Semitism and anti zionism. As in most instances, the zionists disagree and pull the ‘anti Semitism Card’ out whenever it suits their needs. Their ‘cries’ are not unlike the boy who cried wolf…. one day the wolf just might come and no one will believe them. Below is the most recent example…..

Last week, Some 100 Arab students tried to disrupt a speech by Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren during a speech at the University of California in Irvine Monday.

Oren is currently touring the West Coast giving lectures, and decided to visit Irvine despite the fact that the local campus is considered hostile to Israel, and despite the high likelihood that there would be attempts to disrupt his speech.
Taken from THIS report including video

The above action was seen as anti Semitism by the local zionist community which resulted in them taking the following actions…

Bna’i Brith sends letter to university chancellor, expressing ‘deep dismay at the severe and persistent atmosphere of hatred and intimidation for Jewish students’

Last week, B’nai B’rith International President Dennis W. Glick and Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin have sent a letter to the chancellor of the University of California, Irvine, expressing “deep dismay at the severe and persistent anti-Semitic harassment experienced by Jewish students at the University of California, Irvine.”

The letter was sent following recent anti-Israel demonstrations at a campus appearance by Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren, where students repeatedly disrupted his remarks. Such heated protests contribute to a persistent atmosphere of hatred and intimidation for Jewish students at the school, the Jewish group said.

B’nai B’rith also provided Chancellor Michael Drake a copy of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency’s working definition of anti-Semitism that has been in worldwide use since 2005, in the hope it will be used to help students and faculty better understand and identify all forms of anti-Semitism. B’nai B’rith helped develop this description as an essential tool for educators, government officials, journalists, and others to understand contemporary manifestations of anti-Semitism.
Above is from THIS report

Where are the manifestations of anti Semitism? Do you see them??

Making “Islam” synonymous with “terrorism”

By Glenn Greenwald

(updated below)

No matter how many times you see it, the capacity for people to believe what they want to believe, rather than what is actually true, is astounding — and those who want to depict Islam as the ultimate evil seem to grant themselves special license to live that way:

From Jeffrey Weiss, Politics Daily, today: “And we’re still left with a terrible problem for a free and multicultural society: Even though 99.999 percent of Muslims abhor attacks on innocent civilians on moral and theological grounds, 100 percent of attempted terrorist attacks on the U.S. (and, with the exception of the Basques in Spain, terrorists attacks on all Western nations) since the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing have been committed by people claiming to act in the name of Islam.”

Compare that claim to reality:

1998: Dozens die in Omagh bombing:  At least 27 people are feared dead in the worst paramilitary bombing since the start of the Northern Ireland conflict three decades ago  The blast in the market town of Omagh, County Tyrone, at around 1500 BST on Saturday, left more than 100 people injured or maimed” — BBC.

September 21, 2000:  A rocket attack on MI6 headquarters in London is believed to be the work of dissident Irish republicans” — BBC.

“In a series of court documents that were at turns chilling and bizarre, federal investigators said U.S. Army microbiologist Bruce E. Ivins misled government agents investigating the 2001 anthrax mailings, sent emails with language closely matching the handwritten letters sent to victims and had access to the strain of anthrax used in the crime. The Federal Bureau of Investigation says the evidence, including hundreds of pages of unsealed documents, proves that Dr. Ivins was the sole person responsible for the 2001 anthrax mailings . . . The most compelling evidence points at Dr. Ivins and his laboratory at the U.S. Army biodefense facility at Fort Detrick, Md.” — Wall St. Journal, August 7, 2008.

“Olympic bombing suspect Eric Robert Rudolph — wanted in attacks that killed two people and injured more than 100 in the Southeast — was arrested early Saturday in western North Carolina and faces a Monday morning court date. Rudolph has been charged in the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta, Georgia; 1997 bombings at a gay nightclub and a clinic that performed abortions in the Atlanta area; and a bombing at a clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1998” — CNN, May 31, 2003.

U.S.-born Jewish terrorist suspected of series of attacks over past 12 years: The authorities have arrested a resident of the West Bank settlement of Shvut Rachel for suspected murder and a role in a string of murder plots, according to details of an investigation revealed Sunday after a gag order was lifted. Yaakov (Jack) Tytell, who was arrested last month, is suspected of involvement in the murder of two Palestinians and the rigging of a bomb that seriously injured a boy from a Messianic Jewish family in Ariel. . . . Some of his actions were allegedly motivated by hatred for gays and lesbians” – Haaretz, November 3, 2009.

“The Jerusalem District Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday charged alleged Jewish terrorist Yaakov (Jack) Teitel with two murders, three attempted murders and other acts of violence. “It was a pleasure and an honor to serve my God,” said Teitel at the Jerusalem courthouse. “I have no regret and no doubt that God is pleased” — Haaretz, December 11, 2009.

“Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated at a peace rally Saturday night in Tel Aviv’s Kings Square, a top aide confirmed. He was reportedly shot in the arm and back by a Jewish man in his mid-20s who is allegedly affiliated with right-wing extremist groups. . . . Amir confessed to the assassination and reportedly told investigators, ‘I acted alone on God’s orders and I have no regrets‘.” — CNN, November 4, 1995.

The chairman of the Jewish Defense League and a member of the extremist organization are accused of a bombing scheme aimed at the office of an Arab-American congressman and a prominent Los Angeles mosque. JDL chairman Irv Rubin, 56, and Earl Krugel, 59, were held without bail Wednesday after being charged with the failed bombing plot.  Authorities said the two men held a series of meetings in October to plan the bombing of the King Fahd Mosque and the San Clemente office of freshman Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif” — Fox News, December 13, 2001.

“Professor Zeev Sternhell knows as much as anyone about the current threat from Jewish terrorism. His right leg is recovering from shrapnel caused when a bomb, believed to have been the work of right-wing Jewish extremists, exploded outside the front door of his Jerusalem apartment last week. While Arab-Jewish violence is common, the attack on the 73-year-old historian has shocked public opinion in Israel because all the evidence points to it being intra-Jewish. ‘I consider it an act of Jewish terrorism,’ he said in an interview from the modest apartment where the bomb exploded” — Telegraph, October 3, 2008.

“A doctor who performed abortions was shot to death by a sniper in his western New York home Friday night in an attack denounced as ‘terrorism’ by the state’s governor.  ‘It’s beyond a tragedy. It’s really an act of terrorism and, in my mind, a cold-blooded assassination,’ Gov. George Pataki said of the murder of Dr. Barnett Slepian.’ — CNN, October 22, 1998.

“A white supremacist suspected of targeting blacks, Jews and Asians in a deadly Independence Day weekend drive-by shooting rampage from Chicago to Bloomington, Indiana, died after a high-speed chase in Salem, Illinois on Sunday night, police said Monday” — CNN, July 5, 1999.

Mountaineer Militia leader Floyd Looker, convicted in an alleged plot to blow up an FBI fingerprint complex, was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison Friday” — Ocala Star-Ledger, October 11, 1996.

I could spend all day listing more of the same.  And that’s using the narrowest definition possible of “terrorism” — i.e., excluding any state-sponsored terrorist acts.  We’re currently at various forms of war in five different Muslim countries, so it’s not surprising that some of the violence directed at us is from Muslims.   But to claim that “100 percent of attempted terrorist attacks on the U.S. (and [other than Spain], terrorists attacks on all Western nations)” since 1995 are by “people claiming to act in the name of Islam” is so blatantly, demonstrably, obviously false that you really have to wonder about a person who would utter such a thing.  And while most don’t veer quite as deep into the falsehood department as Weiss did, one would get the sense from listening to our standard political discourse that “Terrorism” and “Islamic-inspired Terrorism” are synonymous.  It’s the kind of myth-based demonization that is as familiar as it is false, dangerous and repugnant.

UPDATE:  To his credit, Weiss has added an update noting the false nature of his claim.

Carlos Latuff is not a stranger to smear campaigns against himself, not even to death threats:  When Carlos was asked about the open call to “assassinate him, he said “Of course, we can expect anything from IsraHell. If they can carry on “selective killings” of Palestinians, and carpet Beirut with tons of bombs murdering hundreds of civilians, what is the big deal about “neutralizing” one cartoonist in Brazil? Death threats, cheap attempts to terrorize me, however, will not prevent me from supporting Palestinians in their struggle against brutal Israeli occupation. The most that Likud creeps can do is silence me with a bullet, but they will never be able to silence my art.”

I am proud that Carlos is an Associate of DesertPeace. His works speak volumes in support of People’s struggles throughout the world, especially the Palestinian Cause. The latest smear campaign against him took place this week in Australia. There are obviously a bunch of morons that do the ‘monitoring of neo-nazi groups. They do not know the difference between the far right and the far left as can be seen here; Anti-racism campaigner Cam Smith, monitoring neo-Nazi groups, said the graffiti drew a comparison between Israel and Nazism. The graffiti was “probably from the far left.”
There is no doubt in my mind that the graffiti in question is the work of far right zionists. It has no connection to the Left or to Carlos Latuff.

Cartoonist: Northcote graffiti’s not mine

 by Suzanne Robson

  • Carlos Latuff says he has nothing to do with the graffiti.

Carlos Latuff says he has nothing to do with the graffiti.

  • The graffiti.
  • The graffiti.

A BRAZILIAN cartoonist and Palestine sympathiser has denied any role in anti-Semitic graffiti in Darebin which features his name.

Graffiti including a Nazi swastika inside a Star of David and the words “Israhell” and “latuff” have been scrawled on bins in Northcote, Fairfield and Clifton Hill.

Leftist Brazilian political cartoonist Carlos Latuff, whose pro-Palestine cartoons have featured in Australia’s indie media websites, said “he had never associated Judaism with Nazism in his cartoons”.

“It’s about the State of Israel, imperialism, land grabbing, you name it, but nothing, nothing related to Judaism,” he said.

Mr Latuff said it wasn’t new that his name and cartoons, would be used in “crude photomontages around the web, just for accusing me of anti-Semitism”.

B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission chairman Tony Levy said the graffiti was “obviously” anti-Semitic because it featured the Star of David.

“This is something we are appalled at, not least because of the number of Holocaust survivors who would be distressed by it,” he said.

His group would take action to remove the graffiti. Mayor Diana Asmar said she had been alerted about the graffiti and the council would remove the tags at the affected Darebin properties.

“We are a community that is proud of our cultural diversity, I’m disappointed that someone in Darebin would be involved with small-minded rubbish such as this,” she said.

Anti-racism campaigner Cam Smith, monitoring neo-Nazi groups, said the graffiti drew a comparison between Israel and Nazism. The graffiti was “probably from the far left.”

    Racism Ruins Lives logo
OY….. Perish the thought! Without enemies…
What would happen to the multi billion dollar defense funds it receives from the US government?
What would happen to zionist hate groups such as the ADL??
    What would happen to AIPAC???
Zionism MUST maintain its ‘status quo’ systems which keep Israel as it is, a hateful, racist state. They therefore continue to create ‘enemies’ to justify the whining that comes with the situation.
What happens when there is a threat to this?> PANIC….
What happens when a Palestinian child gets registered to attend a Jewish nursery school?> PANIC….
Too often we see the manifestations of this panic met with silence… but finally, one Palestinian family is taking hatred to court.
Daycare center removes Arab child due to Jewish parents’ pressure
Arab couple files lawsuit against mother they say pressured daycare center owner to kick their child out of center ‘because she is an Arab’. Center’s owner says after incident: ‘They said it’s a Jewish center and it should stay that way’

The report on that situation can be read in THIS Ynet report.

It’s not always the government that is directly involved in these situations, there apparently are enough hateful Israeli citizens that are prepared to do the job for them.

The unfortunate fact remains that way too often, these acts of hatred and racism go unchallenged and are accepted by the victims involved in these situations.

Last year I met with a young Palestinian lawyer that I contacted to prepare a legal case for Mohammed Omer, the phtojournalist that was nearly beaten to death by Israeli authorities on his attempt to return to Gaza from Europe. I told the whole story to this lawyer, including the part about the Israelis forcing Mohammed to stand naked in front of them. The lawyer’s response was “they do that to me every time I travel out of the country”….!!!!

Does that make it the norm?

    Does that make it OK??

I have traveled out of the airport in Tel Aviv many times. I have seen with my own eyes the mistreatment suffered by my fellow passengers that happen to be ‘Israeli Arabs’. I’ve heard with my own ears the security personel ask these people “You know why we are doing this, don’t you”? I’ve said with my own mouth “because you are bunch of god damed racists”!

My reactions to these situations often create a stir, at least they get attention most of the time….. but that is not enough. It’s time for the victims themselves to speak up and do something about it, like the Arab couple referred to in the above report. I am sure that they will find many Jews who will join them in their struggle. I am also sure that if there is enough opposition these acts of ‘silent terrorism’ will come to an end.
