Boycott the supporters of Zionist war criminals and racism

McDonald’s and Starbucks have yesterday announced that they will be donating all profits from now until Sunday to Israeli war. Also, the producers of Adam Sandler’s new movie Bed Time Stories will be donating their profits to THE Zionist entity of Israel.
Be informed, and let others know not to contribute and refuse to support these monsters that believe in killing innocent civilians.
Boycott McDonald’s and Starbucks. Also don’t take your kids to see a movie that promotes violence by association.
Together we can make a difference!

It does all seem rather suspect. A quick net search turns up nothing to authenticate the allegation, with a lot of blogs simply refering back to anonymous Facebook messages received… that sort of thing.

I didn’t spend a lot of time on it, but did dig up what’s alleged to be a direct quote from a McDonalds spokesperson

Google starbucks and you will find that Chairman, president and CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz is a Jew who actively supports Israel through his multi-million dollar company

Brian, the links are at the top, including the one about why a boycott against IsraHELL is necessary. You don’t have to call for a boycott because “someone said so”. All you need to do is look at USrael’s history of its treatment of the Palestinians, and you’ll get all the proof you need. What is your definition of “legitimacy”?

While Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schultz has previously been identified as a supporter of Israeli causes, Starbucks actually closed all of its stores in Israel in 2003 or 2004. There have been press releases from both Starbucks and McDonalds denying the allegation of a cash donation to the Israeli military.

Starbucks, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola Face Boycotts Over Gaza Attacks

    By Katherine Glover | January 12th, 2009 @ 2:07 pm

People around the world have taken to the streets to protest recent Israeli actions against the Gaza Strip, but many are also protesting through boycotts — often targeting U.S. food corporations that are perceived to be symbols of American interests, if not outright supporters of Israel.

Thousands of restaurants in Malaysia have stopped serving Coca-Cola products. Muslim groups there are also calling for boycotts against Starbucks and McDonald’s, as well as Colgate and Maybelline. Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad even called for McDonald’s and Starbucks employees in Malaysia to quit their jobs.

Foreign Policy blogger Joshua Keating has labelled these ‘The world’s stupidest Gaza boycotts.’ “Coca-Cola is a particularly odd target since it’s bottled and sold locally by a Malaysian-owned company,” he wrote, “so the activists are really just hurting their own country’s economy.”

Starbucks and McDonald’s were forced to refute a text message claiming that the companies planned to donate a week’s worth of profits to the Israeli army. The text message was forwarded throughout Singapore and also appeared in Europe, the U.S., India, several Arab countries, and on Facebook.

Ms Linda Ming, communications director of McDonald’s Restaurants, said: “This is not something we have done, or would do. Please be assured that in countries where McDonald’s operates, McDonald’s is locally-run, serves local customers, employs local people, supports local charities and pays local taxes.”

A similar SMS targeting only McDonald’s seems to be making the rounds in Denmark, worrying local owners.

McDonald’s, Starbucks caught in Gaza crossfire
Posted by delster on January 11th, 2009

SINGAPORE, Jan 11 – A phone text message making its rounds among Singaporeans has been calling for the boycott of McDonald’s fast-food outlets and the Starbucks coffee chain, claiming the two American companies are financially supporting the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

The message claims that the two firms will be donating all their profits in the past week to the Israeli army. The same message has also been circulating on Facebook.

Both companies, however, said the message is nonsense.

Singaporeans are not the only ones receiving the message. A check online found people all over the world – including in the United States, Europe, Arab countries and India – discussing the same mobile text message and questioning its authenticity.

Fearing their dollar may be financing a war, some Singaporeans have stopped patronising McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Said 29-year-old finance executive Mohamad Arif: “I refuse to eat or drink at these two places even if I have to go hungry. I don’t want to be involved in the slaughter of innocent people.”

Polytechnic student Cheryl Lim, 18, said she was scolded by her friends when she told them she had a McDonald’s cheeseburger for lunch. “I didn’t receive any SMS,” she said.

When contacted by The Sunday Times, both McDonald’s and Starbucks denied the content of the text message.

Ms Linda Ming, communications director of McDonald’s Restaurants, said: “This is not something we have done, or would do. Please be assured that in countries where McDonald’s operates, McDonald’s is locally-run, serves local customers, employs local people, supports local charities and pays local taxes.”

Starbucks Coffee Singapore marketing manager Ruth Yam said the text message was “definitely a rumour”.

“Starbucks is a non-political organisation. The company, regardless of where it is operating, does not contribute to Jewish organisations,” she said.

The global coffee chain has more than 15,000 outlets around the world, 57 of which are in Singapore. McDonald’s has more than 100 outlets here.

Elsewhere in the region, outrage over Washington’s support for Israel has led to similar calls for boycott of US brands and products.

Last week in Malaysia, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad called for a global boycott of the US dollar and US-made products. “People must act … they won’t die if they don’t drink Coca-Cola,” he had said.

The Indonesian religious council has also urged Muslims in the country to boycott US-made products to pressure Washington to halt the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The US-Asean Business Council has declined to comment on whether the war is expected to affect US businesses in South-east Asia.

Online forums are abuzz with talk of the text message’s call for boycott.

In Singapore, netizens are of the view that it is impossible to totally boycott US and Israeli businesses.

While similar past boycotts are usually short-lived, they sometimes escalate into major problems. In 2002, millions of Arab consumers, enraged by the Israeli military offensive in the West Bank, turned away from US-branded goods.– Straits Times

Targeted businesses deny alleged links to Israel
Rumors fuel calls for US boycott over Gaza
    DUBAI (Courtney C. Radsch)

The rumors circulated via email, on social networking sites like Facebook and conspiracy websites: top American companies are donating profits to Israel in support of the war in Gaza and consumers should boycott them.

The online campaigns call for a boycott of several major U.S.-based companies like McDonalds, the coffee chain Starbucks, Pizza Hut and cigarette maker Phillip Morris, though most of the companies have explicitly denied the rumors on their websites and in interviews.

“Let’s stop using American and British products for just one month. The U.S. will lose 8.6 billion daily if we stop using its products for only one month,” read one email being circulated in Arabic. “As a true Muslim do that. Tell your family, friends, and neighbors and stop for one month.”

“Let’s do what our rulers could not do…. BOYCOTT” read another.

The Facebook group Boycott American Companies That Financially Support Israel! Free Palestine! Has more than 7,000 members hailing from the U.S., Arab world, Europe and Indonesia and Malaysia.

A search for the keywords “boycott Gaza” returned 45 groups in English, French and Arabic calling for a boycott of companies that allegedly support Israel’s war on Gaza. Starbucks and McDonalds were among the most targeted.

“The messages about McDonald’s giving its revenues to Israel until next Saturday do not originate from, and are not affiliated with, McDonald’s. This is completely false and appears to be nothing more than a rumor or hoax,” Tara Handy, senior manager of Corporate Media Relations for McDonald’s said in a statement to AlArabiya.net.

On Saturday protesters in the French city of Nice smashed the windows of a McDonald’s restaurant. On Friday protesters in Venezuela burned a U.S. flag in front of a McDonalds in the capital of Caracas.

Starbucks posted a statement on its website to combat the persistent rumors about the company and its CEO’s support for Israel.

“Rumors that Starbucks Coffee Company and its management support Israel are unequivocally false. Starbucks is a non-political organization and we do not support any political causes anywhere in the world,” it said.

Starbucks has sought to debunk rumors alleging a link between its CEO Howard Schultz and the Israeli Armed Forces as far back as 2006, though the rumor has resurfaced during the most recent conflict.

“Whenever there is tension in the region most U.S. headquartered organizations, they are targets,” said Rana Shaheen, communications manager for Starbucks Middle East. “Along with Starbucks you have McDonalds, Coke, the list is never ending.”

“These rumors may have originated because the CEO happens to be a Jew,” she told AlArabiya.net, but underscored that Starbucks itself does not have a political agenda. “The political views of any employee at any level – and the chain of command is very long – has no bearing whatsoever on the company brand.”

She noted that the heads of several major American companies happen to be Jewish so they become targets during periods of conflict.

Shaheen said Starbucks will be launching a Middle East website next month to help correct such disinformation campaigns.

A boycott of Danish products last year and in 2006 in retaliation for the publication of offensive cartoons dealt a significant blow to the profits companies with a significant presence in the Middle East.

Whether the proposed boycotts would have the intended economic effect on the U.S., however, was unclear, since as several companies pointed out they hire local workers and support the local economy.

“Given the local nature of our business, we believe that calls for boycotts of our products are not the appropriate way to further any causes, as they primarily hurt the local economy, local businesses and local citizens,” Kadri Taib, Coca-Cola Malaysia public affairs and communications director, said in a statement.

It does work, the site rates the MP’s if they respond or not.

I Believe there is an emergency debate in Parliament tomorrow (Thursday 15th January).

People should write to their MP’s and demand investigations and arrests warrants to be issued for Ehud Olmert and Israeli Politicians involved in perusing the war; IDF Commanders for planning the war, selecting Targets and Giving the Orders. Sorry to break this to everybody but the Howard Schultz letter, according to Snopes, is a parody and a hoax. He as an individual supports Israel and was given some kind of award by Aish HaTorah but Starbucks as a COMPANY does not lobby for Israel except with regard to zoning issues.
