Israel about to criminalize BDS

What is Israel’s reaction to the growing nonviolent movement of boycott, divestment, and sanctions? Well criminalize it, of course!
We just learned new bill has been introduced in the Israeli Knesset by 25 Knesset members, that would criminalize all BDS activities or even BDS advocacy inside or outside Israel. You can find info about this in English here and with more detail in Hebrew here.
The proposed bill would target those that initiate, encourage, or provide assistance or information about boycotts against Israel.
Israeli citizens or residents of Israel could be sued by whoever was harmed by the boycott and would have to pay up to 30,000 shekels in restitution and an additional amount according to the harm established by the Israeli courts.
This provision would endanger the Israeli Coalition of Women for Peace, New Profile, Boycott from Within, among others.
Those that are neither citizens nor residents of Israel would lose the ability of entering Israel for at least ten years and would be forbidden from economic activity in Israel (holding an account in an Israeli bank, owning Israeli stocks, land, or any other good that requires registration.)
It is not clear whether this provision would apply also to entry into the West Bank, although Prof. Noam Chomsky’s denial of entry may be a sign of things to come.
A group in a foreign country would also be forbidden from economic activism in Israel. This would apply to the Palestinian Authority as well.
In the case of the PA, Israel would freeze transfer of money it owes and would use it to pay restitution to those harmed in Israel.

When you punish non-citizens for boycotting by not allowing them to do business with Israel, isn’t that essentially reinforcing the boycott? We should encourage more boycotts as well as this law. Cool!

I doubt this this will be a problem for those who live outside of Israel. It is just a matter of identifying products such as bed sheets, wine, grapes, oranges, olive oil, etc. then refusing to buy any. If large stores do not provide the source then we buy from stores that do provide a source other than Israel.
As for not being allowed into Israel, it is most likely that those who want to go there will be inside tanks.

The Sun Queen dried fruits and peanuts are the only products that I know of which are for sale in this country of mine (CH). We have been boycotting those products for years. Now, it seems that Israeli products were sold via turkey, but after what has just taken place, I doubt it will continue…

Why on earth would it bother me not being able to go to Israel for ten years?
I don’t buy ANYTHING that comes from Israel and since the flotilla attack, I am surprised by friends and family who are now joining me, not one product in my property can be sourced to Israel and until they change their ways, that won’t change.
Its nothing to do with anti-semitism, it is everything to do with not supporting a regime that commits war crimes and barbarism against those that can’t fight back.
But what Israel doesn’t realise, is that there is an increased move to the right here in Europe, the situation is getting mighty familiar to that of another time before WWII, it may be that people will seek retribution not against Israeli’s but against Jewish members of their own community, not only does Israel show itself to be a rogue state but it is putting even more innocent people up on offer by its actions.

Not all Jews are infected with the virus of Zionism; in the same way that not all Americans are Corporate Tea-Party douche bags, etc.
Zionism is the result of a deep seated, multi-faceted, psychosis, manifesting here as the rapist blaming its victim. I this case, the skittish rapist senses public attention becoming angrily focused upon the depraved nature of its character, wrangles to deflect becoming incarcerated in the grip of boycotts and sanctions, sighting precedent upon precedent; including inscrutable USA activity within Iraq and Afghanistan, the writhing perpetrator, with twisted logic, now intends to criminalize any scrutiny of its own psychotic behavior. This would be laughable if it were a stage drama, but it isn’t, therefore, contemptible!
Again, the helpless Palestinian victims here are consistently depicted, by MSM, as the criminals. In a sense, this implicates MSM in mass murder and cover-up, in more ways than one.

I remember that it was only after Mahatma Ghandi was jailed by the British in occupied India that he came up with the idea of boycotting all british goods sold in India.If the government of Israel arrest any one involved in the boycott;it will only backfire agaist them by stregthening the resolve of the PALESTINIAN PEOPLE.
